What is the world's oldest profession? If you are talking about God, perhaps you would say creation. If you are talking about our first parents, perhaps you would say gardening.
So, why in the world did God put the first people in a garden? Why not a beautiful palace like Neuschwanstein?
I once visited a mental patient. Her doctor wanted my perspective. I mentioned the possibility of demons in certain cases. He quite agreed, and made a rather huge spiritual observation: God put our first parents in the ideal situation for mental health, a large garden. Mental health professionals recognize the benefits of gardening. Our friend only had a small apartment. Had she lived on several acres, with animals and a huge garden, she would have no reason to go crazy.
So, back to the world's oldest professions -- being creative and doing a little gardening -- do you think that would go a long way to making us all a lot healther mentally and spiritually? Just a thought... |
