OzThoughts – Friday 2nd May, 2008
[Admin note : There will be no Australian Thoughts at the Weekend this weekend or OzThoughts on Monday. They will resume on Tuesday.]
This weekend the Gold Coast Temple Band, in which I am a humble baritone player, is visiting the City of Tamworth in central New South Wales. Tamworth region has a population of almost 54,000. (See : http : //www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/asp/index.asp and http : //www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/asp/index.asp?pgid=34162.
As the first website above says : “Most Australians know Tamworth as the Australian Country Music Capital and we’re proud of our worldwide fame for the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival – a giant carnival of music and fun in January that makes up the 10-day party. It’s the friendly festival - more than 50,000 visitors a day share in a music menu of some 5000 performances by 800 different artists at venues all over the place.”
The GCT Band will be playing “soul-saving” music. The program is varied and we ask that you join us in praying for the spiritual success of the weekend. It is about a seven hour drive (550 kilometres / 342 miles) from the Gold Coast to Tamworth. Please pray that our journey will be safe.
Most of all we have prayed that we might bring encouragement to the Corps at Tamworth and that people will make a new commitment to God.
We will present a program on Saturday night, play at an aged care home. Participate in worship on Sunday morning and give a concertin a park on Sunday afternoon. 7-8 I'm ready, God, so ready,
ready from head to toe,
Ready to sing, ready to raise a tune :
"Wake up, soul!
Wake up, harp! wake up, lute!
Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!"
9-10 I'm thanking you, God, out loud in the streets,
singing your praises in town and country.
The deeper your love, the higher it goes;
every cloud is a flag to your faithfulness.
11 Soar high in the skies, O God!
Cover the whole earth with your glory!
(Psalm 57 The Message).
