GIF Yes we are always up for Chinese food at this house. So true God will use whatever it takes, evil and good. Course he can, He is God! Thanks

Sister Becky, I do believe God can use a fortune cookie to speak to us. He used a donkey to speak to Balaam in the Old Testament. However, I do believe it is not spiritually healthy for a person to look to fortune cookies for direction on a regular basis. Thanks for stepping out there and sharing what most Christians would deem "evil". God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. My blogs are all called Fortunes of Favor because I believe God can give us a fortune of favor! Blessing, DR

Yes Dr Thomas. That was my main point, and what we try to point out to our kids.

Music can have vulgar language in it, and it can damage your soul and your mind and your spirit. So can videos, so can fortune cookies or even horoscopes. So you need to always have the shield and armour of God on because you need to descern what is of God and what is of Satan. We tell our kids that if they choose to put junk in their heads, hearts, eyes and souls then junk will probably come out of your mouth, actions and attitudes. So try to put good things in. See my kids are young in age and thier walk with Jesus. These girls are also smitten they only see "true earthly love with a mate" or silly stuff in the taboos of fortune cookies or horoscopes, but I try to challenge them to see things deeper and with a different light. Mainly because we are still in a sinful world and they can't totally shelter themselves from everything all the time.

Wasn't it paul that said:
10:23 We are free to do all things, but there are things which it is not wise to do. We are free to do all things, but not all things are for the common good.

or another verson says not all things are beneficial. It is hard in this world to not harden your heart and see past the sin and love the sinners, especially if they are influencing our youth. I do not always approve of all things, and sometimes ask that some music gets shut off because of bad language. The youngest is so impressionable and to be a young boy and say curses in Jr Hish seems to be cool in the public schools.

No we are constantly fighting the things of this world with our teens, we just try to keep Christ in everything they have to face. Most of the time they blow us off, but sometimes they are really listening. Thanks LaTonya

I agrre with Dr. Thomas and your statement Becky

One’s relationship with the world is an indicator of one’s relationship with God. Those who love the world are void of love for God the Father (1 John 2:15). The Scripture points out that “all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:16, RSV). The world and its desires or lusts are transient, passing away, but the doer of God’s word abides forever (1 John 2:17). Friendship with the world is opposition toward God (James 4:4).
