Proverbs 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 3:8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. (read chapter) When the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines, they placed the ark into the temple of their god Dagon. When they went back into the temple to perform their worship of this god, they discovered his arms were broken off, and then they went back the next day his legs were broken off, and again they went back the next day and he was only a torso. God also at that time plagued the philistine territories with rats and hemorrhoids. I Samuel 5:6 But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod , and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. (read chapter) Realizing that the God of Israel was more powerful than the god’s they set up, they sent the ark away on a cart led by cows. I Samuel 6:8 And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go. Later when David was reigning as king of Israel he defeated the philistine armies and desired to bring the ark back, they placed it on a new cart, but while it traveled, it began to topple over and Uzzah, put his hand out to stop it from falling, and he was struck dead. David in his anger sent the ark away, it ended up a the house of Obededom, and his entire house was blessed. What David realized was he wasn’t doing things God’s way. The ark was to be carried by priests, not carted like luggage. So he brought the ark back, and worshipped the Lord the way he desired to be worshipped, and David rejoiced and danced 2 Samuel 6:14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. (read chapter) As human beings we’re always concerned with our physical healing, it’s important… if there is something more important its our spiritual healing. Not every spiritual hurting requires a rebuke of the devil. I would almost venture to say the majority of the time our spiritual hurting comes because we’re simply not doing things God’s way. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. (read chapter) We must not always assume we’re doing things God’s way. God has laid out some simple instructions for us within the pages of scripture (just like we would for our children, letting them know not to play in traffic) of how He desires to be worshipped, anything short of that is certain to bring upon us a certain calamity. Yet the opposite must be true, when our worship is in line with how God desires us to worship, blessings beyond belief, and healing takes place. |
