In English we are reading Night by Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel was a Jew in the Holocaust, after the war was through he wouldn't speak for ten years then he wrote this book. My teacher read the forward and it talked about how Elie Wiesel lost his faith and I was at the edge of my seat screaming in my head "no that could not be." But it did. In the forward it said that he was asking questions like "Where's God?" and "Why did God allow this to happen?" I thought of Deuteronomy 31: 8, God will not leave us or forsake us. I knew that God was with the Jews, when they were being gases, so was he. When they were starving, so was he. When they were being tortured, so was he. God gave us free will, that's why so many terrible things happen. It is not God's doing but man's. Man chooses to do those things. God does not make bad people, people make bad choices and those choices affect everyone. 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
