I write this in Honor of My "Pastors". They have been wonderful to my family and I will never forget it. Also to everyone who has a pastor.
Our Pastor
Have you ever walked in our Pastor's shoes, And gone where his feet have trod? Have you ever thought of what he means to us, And on your knees, given thanks to God?
Have you ever told him thank you, For being there when times are tough, For comforting words and fervent prayers When trials come and the storms of life are rough?
Have you ever thought to say thank you Pastor, For preaching God's word to help us understand, For all the times he has asked for things That will lend us a helping hand?
When you pray, put him on top of the list, And ask the Lord to surround him with loving care, To give him strength and walk with him, To help him with the burdens that he must bear.
Have you ever walked in our Pastor's shoes, And gone where his feet have trod? Have you ever thought of what he means to us, And on your knees, given thanks to God? ~Author unknown
Being a pastor is a difficult life! I know. It puts strains on your spiritual, physical, and family life that no one can understand. People don't understand when you take a day off during the week. They forget that you work on Sunday. They forget that you fight a spiritual battle for the souls of men and women daily, and as exhausting as your work day is theirs is more. In the Salvation Army it is even worse. We must deal with more than just church members. We have advisory boards, employees, finances, social services, fundraising, FEMA, Diaster services, shelters, etc, etc, etc. I know you can think of more than I. I praise God for all the pastors I have had in my life! The list isn't that big. I also thank God for all the Sunday school teachers, song leaders, and others who have taken the time to teach and train me to fight in this battle. Thank your pastor today. They will be stunned and appreciative that someone noticed. |
