He Lives by Candy Murphy ©2005 “And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had brought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him” (Mark 16:1). The cool, crisp morning air of that spring day so many years ago wisped through the women as they headed toward the tomb to anoint the body of their Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. This was the third day since His sacrificial death on the cross and the ladies were wondering who would roll the stone away for them. What they encountered when they reached the tomb took them by surprise and even scared them a little. The stone was miraculously moved and there was a glowing angel present who told them to “Be not afraid.” When the women stepped inside, they found the tomb to be EMPTY and the grave clothes that had once encased the body of Jesus were now neatly folded. Although there was slight confusion at first, there was still a definite peacefulness in the air as the reality of what had happened hit them. “It’s true – He is risen!” Oh the joy that must have filled their hearts as they hurriedly ran to share the good news of the resurrection. This Easter we are unable to physically journey to the tomb to see in actuality the place where Jesus spent those three days that has forever affected our lives. We can, however, look deep within our hearts and ask “Is Jesus alive in me?” If so spread the good news – “HE LIVES |
