| Sampson was in church yesterday!!!!! |
|
| |
Yesterday morning, I awoke to satan working. I was to sing in church. I had practiced and practiced the song, it was going to be a hard one for me to do. You see, it was the last song played at my dad's funeral in Jan. My husband and my dad were very close and it was the song that my husband requested by Jars of Clay..."I'll Fly Away". Allergies were what I awoke to....I changed keys on it, went through it a couple of times and we both prayed alot. I get to church, praying that I can sing it without breaking...it's decoration day. My first time to go since Dad passed. I notice our preacher isn't around...hmmmm. We take our granddaughters to church with us. It would be the first time the youngest has heard her "Ga" sing in public....and I'm praying that it gives her the courage to do the same...she has a good voice. So we keep her with us until I sing.....then she'll go to children's church. hmmm, where is the preacher???? Ok, time to sing...I told the people about the song and invited them to sing along with me.....and they did! Even my granddaughter :) Still no preacher. I sit down, hubby takes granddaughter to children's church......then we hear the preachers voice, but he's not in the room...... He tells to bow our heads in prayer with him......and at that point I knew he'd joined us. After prayer......I raise my head up to see the preacher with a long wig...today he was Sampson. My husband walks back into the church to see a man with his back to him with long hair.....oh, he thought, we have a guest speaker, LOLOL As our preacher tried to convince us that he was Sampson, he went through Sampson's life.....and he said that if you ask most people about Sampson.....they would talk about his strength. But, he wanted to talk about Sampson's weakness......his disobedience. He continued to unfold his life as Sampson from his instruction from his parents in childhood.....and how disobedient Sampson was until after Delilah cut his hair. Then, as Sampson was threshing the grain.....he asked God for something that was pleasing to God. You know the story. In the end, the preacher jerks off his wig......and he's shaven his head! Point is......is this what it takes to become obedient? I think for some of us......yes. We have to hit rock bottom to finally call on God. But, as hard as it is to be obedient, it's the easiet solution. Something I know I'm going to be working on! How about you? BTW, I'm also thankful for a preacher who will go to the extreme to reach us for God :) |

| My husband and I talked about it alot yesterday.....we are very thankful for the preacher God has sent us. Sometimes we have to step out of our safe little box to reach people.....and that's what he did :) |

Obedience, man you are really hitting me today! Ouch again! Really obedience shouldn't be hard because we know in the end it is better, but why do we struggle so much? Is it because of our own selfishness. We want to stay where we are because it is comfortable? Pride maybe? I don't need....? Fear of Rejection....they'll laugh if I shave my head...? Even Israel, who actually stood, physically, in the Presence of God, was disobedient. Who loses when we don't submit? Not only us, but HE does...He has to find someone else to do His Work...Hummm....Okay you've got my attention now! Cindy you gotta quit doing this to me....No excellent post...thanks for provoking my thoughts...Be blessed!
p.s. maybe I'll pass this on to my Pastor. Sounds like you are blessed by yours! |

| I think disobedience is all of the things you wrote. For me, most of the time, I want to think "my" way is right......WRONG! Or I think, this is small, I won't pray about it, LOL. And for me, I find it hard to pray for myself........I pray and pray and pray for others with no problem.....I just struggle with praying for myself :( |
