the lyrics to old hymns. I'll take anything/everything you have! Just post them in the comment section of this post. I'm especially looking for the lyrics to this song (I can't remember the title or more than a few words) that was played at my beloved great-grandmother's funeral in the early 60's: Lord, when are you coming? Down here I feel so alone. Come and get me, Jesus. Lord, I want to go home.
Tempted and trialed, Lonesome and blue, Homesick for heaven, For mama, and You.
Well, well, well, I've been reading my Bible. Sometimes I feel so alone. Come and get me, Jesus. Lord, I want to go home! I've forgotten so many wonderful songs from my childhood; lately, I find my heart longing for them. I would surely appreciate having your help in finding some of them. Don't be shy about what you post...I love them all! God's blessings to you all, Janice |

Ahhhhh, I could do many......I used to collect hymnals....most, unfortunately, were destroyed:( But, I have alot of the old songs in my heart :0) Where Could I Go? Living below, in this old sinful world, Hardy a comfort can afford; Striving alone to face temptations sore, Where could I go but to the Lord?
Chorus: Where could I go, O Where could I go, Seeking a refuge for my soul? Needing a friend to save me in the end, Where could I go but to the Lord?
Neighbors are kind, I love them ev'ry one, We get along in sweet accord; But when my soul needs manna from above, Where could I go but to the Lord?
Repeat chorus.
Life here is grand with friends I love so dear, Comfort I get from God's own word; Yet when I face the chilling hand of death, Where could I go but to the Lord?
Repeat Chorus. |

| The Old Rugged Cross On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suff’ring and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain: So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown.
Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, Has a wondrous attraction for me; For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above To bear it to dark Calvary.
In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, A wondrous beauty I see, For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, To pardon and sanctify me. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true; Its shame and reproach gladly bear; Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share. |

| Church in the Wildwood There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood, No lovelier spot in the dale; No place is so dear to my childhood, As the little brown church in the vale. Refrain
Come to the church in the wildwood, Oh, come to the church in the dale, No spot is so dear to my childhood, As the little brown church in the vale.
How sweet on a clear, Sabbath morning, To list to the clear ringing bell; Its tones so sweetly are calling, Oh, come to the church in the vale.
Refrain
There, close by the church in the valley, Lies one that I loved so well; She sleeps, sweetly sleeps, ’neath the willow, Disturb not her rest in the vale.
Refrain
There, close by the side of that loved one, To trees where the wild flowers bloom, When the farewell hymn shall be chanted I shall rest by her side in the tomb.
Refrain
From the church in the valley by the wildwood, When day fades away into night, I would fain from this spot of my childhood Wing my way to the mansions of light.

Amazing Grace Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.
Words: John Newton (1779) |

Ave Maria Ave Maria! blessed Maid! Lily of Eden's fragrant shade! Who can express the love that nurtured thee, so pure and sweet, making thy heart a shelter meet for Jesus' holy Dove!
Ave Maria! Mother blest, to whom, caressing and caressed, clings the eternal Child; favored beyond Archangels' dream, when first on thee with tendered gleam thy new-born Savior smiled.
Thou wept'st meek Maiden, Mother mild., thou wept'st upon thy sinless Child, thy very heart was riven: and yet, what mourning matron here would deem thy sorrows bought too dear by all on this side heaven!
A Son that never did amiss, that never shamed his Mother's kiss, nor crossed her fondest prayer: e'en from the Tree he deigned to bow for her his agonized brow, her, his sole earthly care.
Ave Maria! thou whose name all but adoring love may claim, yet may we reach thy shrine; for he, thy Son and Savior, vows to crown all lowly lofty brows with love and joy like thine. |

| Be Still and Know That I Am God Be still and know that I am God, be still and know that I am God, be still and know that I am God.
I am the Lord that healeth thee, I am the Lord that healeth thee, I am the Lord that healeth thee.
In thee, O Lord, I put my trust, In thee, O Lord, I put my trust, In thee, O Lord, I put my trust. |
