Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
In our society, we are extremely concerned with time, and more of it. We’re constantly trying to buy back time by speeding up everyday processes of life. Faster PC connections, shorter driving routes (maybe that’s just me), even CBS 60minutes doesn’t take 60 minutes to watch any longer with the advent of DVR, you can record it, watch it later, fast forward the dull parts and commercials. Yet God’s time table hasn’t changed, God not wringing his hands saying “I wish I could speed this process us”
Have you, ever prayed “God give me patients and give it to me know”? I think its comforting to know that God has a time table, that God isn’t randomly intervening, but God has allowed certain things to take place in our lives because there is a greater vision in mind and its not always about the immediate situation. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
God is patient with us, God is even suffering through any and all situations with us, but God has a different vantage point, he can see the entire time line. We too need to exercise seeing our lives from the vertical vantage point, the horizontal plain always has a vanishing point where we can no longer see any further.
How we get vertical is by waiting on the Lord. There are two types of waiting on the Lord. Type one involves tabling the issues until God moves on your behalf, and Type two is that of a waiter, waiting on the Lord, serving the Lord maybe even in a greater capacity that you hadn’t experienced before. Its during these times that we truly are getting vertical with the Lord and are hearts are strengthened.
As the saying goes, God’s time is right on time!
