| The promised "who's coming to dinner" blog |
| |
Ok, here it is. The promised "who's coming to dinner" blog. Star it and you are invited to Mike n Laura's for dinner at a time to be decided later. Seriously, you will be invited. Of course this is just a stunt! But nevertheless you really will be invited to our place for dinner. HOWEVER, I am actually asking you NOT to star it! I only posted it because I extended the offer on another blog, and the promise must be kept, against my wishes. Not that I don't want to have you over for dinner. We do!!! But c'mon man, is this the right way to secure a dinner invitation? No! It's in bad taste!! What would Mike Webb say about this??? No stars, please. ~mike |

So, is this an invitation for dinner or not? We could make it a pot-luck... I don't want to star your blog and force the issue. Sounds like you don't really want to do it. Mixed signals Mike...I hate mixed signals!!! :-( |

Mary Ann, I promised a "who's coming to dinner" blog, I've delivered a "who's coming to dinner" blog. In a technical office such as mine, this is known as "meeting the requirement." Take it for what it is (and perhaps read in between the lines a little). You're a sweet lady and wonderful presence at Calvary, you don't need to star blogs to get invited to dinner. ~Affectionately yours, mike (n laura) ps... as for the rest of you people with stars, cut that out! |

Ok Aaron, Jonathan, & Randy, you are invited! (See, no star necessary.) But you have to provide your own transportation! All you other readers, don't you dare star this! It just doesn't look right. What will outsiders think if they see you people doing that? |
| April 05, 2007 |
Is this a test to see who will rebel against the "do not star" request??? I failed...I starred...I starred! I do like fish...shellfish too (I'll have Cathy's, she can have my veggies!...there will be veggies, right?) Lobster sounds good! Of course I'll be needing my ticket from Louisiana to Maryland..... |

If I'm providing my own transportation this better be one heck of a dinner!!!!! And you better take me to an Orioles game! |

Can I star twice? If'n I'm driving all the way for dinner, I might as well stay for breakfast before heading back home. By the way, I enjoy crawfish, shrimp, crab, lobster, fish, eel, calamari, escargo, gumbo, etouffe, stuffing, beef, pork, chicken, foul, deer, rabbit, squirrel, opossum, rattlesnake, frog legs, and ice tea. Hope you have some fancy recipes. P.S. That should help you stop the stars, lol. |

Okay here's what I'm thinking. One year from now, lets plan a MyChurch picnic over here at Centenial Lake. They have a huge pavilion that will accomodate 250 people. There are hotels, B&B's and folks with extra rooms from our church. NO EEL however will be allowed. |
| April 06, 2007 |
Let's what to bring for desert? Maybe get Mom to make a huge tub of Banana Pudding, or a couple of dozen pecan pies? Think they will stay fresh on the drive from Texas? (I don't get on planes). Of course Cathy's idea for a big MyChurch picnic sounds great. I nominate her for head of the planning committe. Any seconds? p.s. You would be surprised how good somethings are if prepared the correct way. Even eel. |

I'll have to get back to you - I'm sure there are some ideas up in this brain of mine! Please say I can come! PLEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEE! |

28 people?????? Holy cow Rosie, we're gonna have to make a picnic outta that one! btw, Lucy (Laura) says "no" to the idea of picnics at our place. We'll have to rent the pavillion for that! But we're still cool for dinners, provided you don't try to pull a "Rosie" on us! :-) |

We only have a small 2 bedroom apartment, but we welcome everyone that wants to stop by. We'll fix up something home fashioned, or maybe treat to you some awesome local takeout. We recently met Charlie who visited the Houston area. We also invite you to join us at the Houston House Church Conference in May. Vicki and I will both be in attendance. We're excited, this is our first Conference as house church Pastors. We would love to see you there. Or here! |

Our doors are always open my Mom had an Aunt in Tn that no matter when you stopped in to see her she would get up and go fix you something to eat we are talking homemade everything . My Mom took after her i was the fattest little girl we always had company and we ate all the time.I don't think there was ever a night when we were kids that the neighbors or a relative wasn't at our house. Our house had a living room ,kitchen ,bedroom and bath down stairs and on Holidays everyone would come and we would just rotate through the house everyone fit somehow. Those were the good ole days. I miss that everyone is to busy these days to just visit. |

Hi ourspace, welcome to mychurch!! First of all, about the stars. You need to read "How to STAR a blog" (here's a link). This is "must know" info on mychurch, it's what keeps everyone happy and fulfilled here. Well ok, that may be overdoing it just a little... But it really is a nice thing to do. Oh, and here is some more great guidance on how to find your way around here. More must know! Finally, Laura and I are definitely opening our home to folks who happen through our neck of the woods. In another blog I promised to write this blog, stars and all. But of course, starring a blog to get a dinner invite, well that amounts to bribery doesn't it? The developers of the site want none of that going on here I'm sure, so we plead with you not to star it! (wink) You're in Woodbridge, not far away, so I guess we'll be seeing you soon! ~God bless, mike |

| Mike, despite Cathy's alleged aversion to fish, I would like to bring shrimp and scallops. Cathy, bring the bacon!!! We can layer it between the shrimp and scallops put it on skewers and throw it on the grill!!! |
| April 12, 2007 |
| Do you really think she meant all fish? Are scallops fish? Perhaps for the purposes of this blog we should define "fish". |
| April 12, 2007 |
Mike, are you really asking me: 1. if scallops are fish? and 2. if Cathy meant all fish?" Well, scallops are fish, shell-fish. And Cathy LOVES them. That's why I know she will bring the bacon bro!!! :-) |

We're ready for ya'll! It'll be great! (We would seriously be broken-hearted if folks we've dialogued with over the last several months snuck through our town w/o dropping in for some good old fashioned "fellership"!) Unfortunately it seems Cathy, our picnic coordinator, has gone AWOL. How many stars is that worth?? |

He's telling us to star, right? No he isn't, he's telling us not to star. I think you're wrong. I think it's pretty clear that we're supposed to star. Why do you say that? Because I think I followed Mike's logic. This is just a "semi" invite. It's not an actual invite, but he needs to know who would like to be invited. So star if you'd like to at some point be invited to Mike's house to meet Lucy. What if I'm just hungry? You've still got to meet Lucy. Oh Besides if she puts up with Mike and him inviting everyone over for dinner, she's gotta to be pretty nice. I suppose, but he's also got to be pretty confident that she makes some GREAT food. *momentary pause with lips smacking* So we're in agreement that I should star right? No. You don't agree with me? Actually I think we should just tell Mike we're hungry and we want to meet Lucy. Think of all the typing that would involve. Starring is much easier! Ohhhhhhhhhhh OK. So you don't think if I'm wrong, he'll be mad at us do you? If I answer this wrong is it going to be longer before I eat? Well I don't thin... *CLICK* Problem solved, unless we could suddenly take back a star. Now where's the food? I told you before, that this is only a pseudo-invite. The real invite would be for later if we're ever in the area (and we should maybe say the same). You mean all this arguing and I don't get to eat now? And you may have just invited everyone to drop by if they're ever in the neighborhood? I think you're in trrrrrrrrrouble You stole that line. Yes I did. Now I'm going to go "steal" some breakfast from your refrigerator. |

| People always get so conflicted over this particular blog. It tears em up, you can see it. The battle rages in their minds, "Should I star or shouldn't I??" This (blog) is either a simple invitation to drop by the Ricky/Lucy (mike n laura) house if ever in our area, OR an absolutely ingenius scheme to get people to star a blog by actually telling them not to star it! Well, I opt for the former, b/c we would seriously LOVE IT if our MyChurch friends would visit us (and Calvary Community Church). Which means the stars actually give the appearance of a bribe! Therefore I beg you, please don't do it!! Don't follow the Norms (and others) who would star in exchange for a meal!! (Drats, there he goes again!) |

| This is just too funny NOT to star! |
| June 02, 2007 |

| I’ve finally succumbed to the temptation to star this blog in anticipation of a dinner invitation. First I thought, NO, don’t star it. If you star it, that means you are NOT invited. Now, it has been a while and I’ve restrained my star finger but, still, no dinner invitation. So, I’m starring it to see if maybe, just maybe, the power of the star will get me invited to this HUGE shindig Mike and Laura will be hosting. |

That Sue! What about her? She sounds so surprised that one of her links actually worked. Yeah she does doesn't she? Even though she's written a whole blog on plugging (link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link). Um, Um. Two things! It was Mike who actually wrote the "original" plugging blog around here. No, no, you're wrong, Mike's was about how to star, but not to star one of his blog entries (again). Well ok, I guess you're right there and we don't want to discuss that again, but everyone of those "link" links you used go to the same place. Yes, but these go to 11. Not another quote! Ah you remember those do you? The last one isn't even 11 comments up! Not a big fan of 11? We could talk about 42. 42? We don't want to talk about that again do we? Besides we both know that is not the answer to life, the universe and everything. Sure it is. Whaddya mean? You can't possibly believe that 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything! Here take a look at the this. Let's starting counting. One, Two, Thareee, WE ARE NOT PLAYING THE COUNT! Get to the point. According to Matthew, there were 42 generations between Abraham and the real Answer to life, the universe and everything. *Thunk* *Thunk* *Thunk*. So why are talking here anyways? It seems like we're not following proper blog etiquette and we really haven't talked about my (erm Mike's) dinner whatsoever. My head hurts and I remember why we're talking, you really don't remember why? Nope, but I've been forgetting other things recently too. We're here to prove how engaging we would be as dinner guests. So again this is not actually about the food? Um no, sorry. Hmmm time to get breakfast again. |

| Norm, you are becoming quite the plugger bro! Thanks for the plugs :) I know it sounds funny, but you have no idea how many people have asked me "how to plug?" on this site. It is just easier to direct them to my blog, instead of having to re-type the same thing over and over in a message. Every time I start to get repeat questions, I just type up a blog. |

I used (or Sued which because my fingers took over from my brain is what I just typed) to be a lot worse. Linking is how my brain works. So in many ways I'm a slow thinker because my brain likes to go off on tangeants. |

Hey Mike & Laura, lunch was great!!! Thank you!!! It was awesome getting to know you better and meeting PastorDATM and his wife Teresa and always a treat to hang with Pastor Dan, his family, Sue and her girls. Steve (aka the Red Sleeping Bag) really enjoyed the afternoon and mentioned he thought you were "excellent hosts". The grilled chicken was delicious!!! Cooked to perfection. I can’t wait for dinner J
Hey Rosie, they have at least an acre. I'd say that's plenty room to accommodate your posse!!!

Here we have Mike in the background cooking. I was taking the picture. Pastor Dave is seated. MaryAnn and Steve are behind Dave. And Pastor Dan is off to the side. |

I'll be blogging more about all of this as the week goes on but I want to mention that Mike's comment, "...it was an absolutely wonderful time... a true and enjoyable demonstration of the unity of love that we have as believers in ONE God, despite our superficial differences" is actually an understatement. Yesterday afternoon's fellowship was so awesome I don't think there is enough space on the MyChurch.org servers for me to post enough words to describe just how awesome yesterday actually was.
Many, many, many THANKS to hosts Mike and Laura! May you all be richly blessed for you hospitality!

Muy spicy! Spicissimo!! (Pero Laura no se gusta.)
I don't think spicissimo is actually a word, but it sounds good! You will fly into BWI, that's Balt-Wash International. Note that "Baltimore" comes before Washington. That's as it should be! haha Love to have you, sister! (you didn't star this, did you?) ~mike |

LOL - SPICISSIMO DOES SOUND GOOD! Bien (Bee-en) Picante (Pee-can-tay) is the correct word for very spicy. LOL - no Mike I did not start this... I know you mentioned it was "bad taste" to secure a dinner invitation this was...but it didn't scare anyone off... I sure hope you have space for all your guest. |

| Hey Mike, This list isn't getting any shorter, so you might be due for another round of dinner guest :) And with this 70 degree weather we are having in January, you might just be able to have another cookout! Can a guest come twice if they don't have double star capabilities? |

Jesssssss!!! I missed your comment, my goodness, 2 months old. Forgive me! Please bring the crabbing gear if we make this thing happen. Folks from the middle of the country will want to know what the heck all the fuss is about crabs!
Jeremy, nor can I! (a whole year!) And judging by how close you live, mister, I can almost taste the chicken parmesian! :-)
Sue, you are so close that you're welcome to double up. Just help us clean up, ok? |

You need a star for this one. P.S- I like italian food! and B.B.Q chicken goes well with fireworks. Let me know! |

What's poke salad??? Do I wanna know? I really like the sound of double crust chocolate pie. As you can see by the little picture Sue posted above, I like to cook on the grill for people. Cmon over!! Yes Crystal it was. Note, this blog is over 2 years old! Was it a stunt? Or a real invitation? The answer is BOTH! Just realize you DON'T have to star it to get invited. In fact, don't. That would look like bribery, wouldn't it?? So Joey's having some sort of party, I hear. A critter party? Do we bring a critter, or dress up like one? Joey, help! |
