Hal, Thank you for your help.. I know I was doing Step 1 correctly..but nothing will show! I guess it has to do with my dial up...When I was uploading my pictures again, some took longer then others.I just went and done some dishes and when I came back it was done..."gentle folk" I like that! God bless you and have a great weekend! Much love, Duke |

Jen -In this example, the picture was taken from Restore's "My Photos." Therefore she would have simply right clicked on the picture to copy the location (or URL) of the picture. BTW, this technique works for posting almost any picture located on the Internet. (copyright laws aside.) I use it a lot with Wikipedia. My next HELP! blog will be on how to use Photobucket or Picasa2, etc. to store tons of pix for your personal use. In those places, you will have your own space on the internet to store photos for free! Cheryl - You are welcome! I am here to help, and thanks for the blessing! DUKE (LOL) - Right, nothing will "show," you are only copying the URL of the picture into the "clipboard" or memory storage area on your computer. After that, you "paste" that small piece of text into the "field" (Step 4) in the requestor box. You will know that the "paste" has worked, if you simply click in the blank space of the requestor box, (after the paste) and numbers appear in the "dimensions" field. Dimensions I will explain later as well. And the same blessings, right back at you -You are my favorite "gentle person" girl! ALL - Remember that the URL is the "address" where the the Internet website "hosts" (or stores) the picture in its database:

| "You will know that the "paste" has worked, if you simply click in the blank space of the requestor box, (after the paste) and numbers appear in the "dimensions" field. Dimensions I will explain later as well." Well this is not happening...no numbers are showing up. as your stated here. I'm doing every thing you say! I give up for now! |

Thanks Hal. I was doing this but then got jumped all over for copying a picture that someone else had copyrighted. I immediately took it off, of course. How can you tell if the picture you want is "allowable" or such like? Blessings! |

Restore: Paste the URL you were using into your next comment. (Maybe it's not "correct.") I will investigate! Hi, Grant! I sort of cavalierly said "all over the internet" didn't I. Well, not so fast! (Sorry, my bad!) Some tips: Photographers take a dim view of their pix being used off their photography sites (ask Dana! Someone used her photography without permission... and posted it as his own! -that has legal ramifications.) Many sites will state that their material is copyrighted, so watch for those notifications. Photobucket and Picasa2 sites, and their ilk were put in place for picture sharing. Many "free layout" websites have pictures, but respect the owners wishes and link back to the "free layout" site. Most of the places I grab pix from are in public "free photo" places. NASA pictures are US Government and have free use for us taxpayers. Most Wikipedia pictures are posted with a "fair use" policy. "Link" the photo back to it's source, so that you provide the site with free exposure as well. If sombody complains, remove the picture completely ASAP! When in doubt, don't use it. And DON'T sell anything with a permission-less picture! The best thing to do is create your own! More on this and other rules later. |

http://www.mychurch.org/member/144862/restore/photos?action=view&id=311186 That address is the "page" upon which the photo is stored. The link just below is the URL of the actual photo itself: (try pasting it in the box.) http://mcweb2.mychurch.org/files/drive1/images/00/00/00/00/00/00/00/31/11/311186.jpg (To get that I right-clicked on the picture and chose "copy shortcut" from the menu , just as in step 1. You'll get the hang of it.. trust me!) |

A wonderful thought a-rose in my mind, Hal.
The original image here was 500x500 pixels.
In the little box I changed the size proportionally to 300x300.
That gets a little tricky with odd sizes.
I'll stop now before my post gets too flowery.
LOL. |

| Oh I forgot to tell you I had my husband Delbert, take I look and he said I was following your instructions! |

Good job restore... this one is not your fault. MyChurch has closed that option on their clients (you) pictures. NOW, when I try that same trick, it does not work (IN Internet explorer, Firefox still can "copy location" on MyChurch). The "copy shortcut" option in the right click menu is "greyed out" which means it is not available, you can still "choose" it but the function will not work.). I suspect that MyChurch has added the function of protecting their members pictures from being accessed by other websites in this way, recently. Perfectly natural and legal. For now try this:
Look for the picture on this page above that looks like this:

Go through the instructions that I gave you. The "Copy Shortcut" menu option should be no longer greyed out. See ifthe instructions work for you now with that picture. If it does, then success!
Please comment below, either way! (I will not give up on you!)

Aw, come on Joey. You can do it! It will help you for other stuff, 'cuz this is a basic skill to learn! For now try this:
Look for the picture in the original blogged area above that looks like this:
<-----------Have Fun!
Go through the instructions that I gave you. The "Copy Shortcut" menu option should be no longer greyed out. See if the instructions work for you now with that picture. If it does, then success! Please comment below, either way! (I will not give up on you either Joey!) |

| Or... just find the photo on the net you want to insert, select it, copy, and paste into your blog. For a "cleaner" copy, right-click the image on the net, View Image, then select, copy, paste. |
|
|
| Ok, looks like I am gonna hafta store some pics on the web? |
|
|
You are correct Eric... I was actually laying the ground work for a more advanced way of inserting pix BTW, your "cleaner" copy is just sometimes bigger, therefore looks better. When you right-click and view the image by itself, the URL box shows the address of where the actual photo is stored. There are a lot more variables that can be used after learning how to use the insert graphic "icon" (shown below) <-----try to copy and paste this icon (located in the "leave a comment" toolbar) It doesn't work in Firefox or IE. But in using the actual location of that icon (here below):
http://www.mychurch.org/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/images/image.gif And by pasting that adress in the "insert image tool's" requestor and VIOLA, it works! Here the icon is enlarged to 60X60: So try it out boys and girls......
Cindy... Yes you can store your images on a "free" photo storage site, like Photo Bucket or the Picasa2 photo website (that I use). Picasa2 is very nice and is linked to the use of their Picasa2 photo editing software (which is also free) I absolutely love this program for fast fixes. |
