| Echoes from the Mountain tops |

A group of people culminated their Bible Study/ministry series by attending a large prayer retreat. At that retreat, all of our people experienced spiritual freedom and change. When they shared their experiences, it was evident that the miracle of re-birth had occurred for some and deliverance had taken place for others. It was encouraging for me to hear, as I give leadership to these wonderful children of God. But experience with God has also taught me that when we proclaim victory from the mountain, the echos of it reach right down to Hell.
It is in those few hours, days and weeks following that the enemy of our soul "seeks whom he can devour". He begins his attack right away, hoping to discourage and dissuade the victorious that it was all a dream. He echos defeat, that the journey to the mountain peak is too hard, the weight of our pain too hard, the cross of our shame too difficult for God to handle. And our "flesh" begins to weaken our spirit. It seems His echos drown out the voice of our "Mountain Guide" - who promised to make our "feet like hinds feet on high places".
I'm so glad that when God trains us for the hike, He does it knowing all the challenges. Our God is never "caught off guard". You can't yell "surprise!" to God - He's all-knowing! So he's aware of all the tactics, all the efforts, all the schemes and plans of the enemy and, as Psalm 29:3 says: " The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea."
What does the Lord's echo contain?
The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
Psalm 29:10,11
That's the only sound I want to hear! To know that in my upward journey, there is peace and strength available to me that the Lord has promised for those who take the path He chooses. I hear echos of mercy and grace. What do you hear? |
