USE YOUR SENSES! “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray! The Word tells us “Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” I Peter 5:8 You adversary, your enemy and your foe is seeking after you; he desires to devour, consume, overwhelm and overcome you. He comes to steal, kill and destroy….And if you’re not watching; if you’re not praying, when he comes, you won’t recognize him; you won’t be prepared for him and you won’t be able to resist him. Watch and Pray! Don’t sit back, unarmed and unprepared when you know that you have an enemy that hates you and wishes to destroy you. Don’t sit back unaware of what’s going on, getting caught up in temptation and sin, because you’ve been deceived, tricked and hoodwinked. Don’t sit around waiting until the attack comes; waiting until the temptation comes; waiting until the trial comes….Don’t just wait for it, prepare for it. Watch and pray! Jesus warns us that if we don’t watch and pray we will fall into temptation. He warns us that if we are not prepared, our flesh will take over. He warns us that if we are not prepared, we’ll lose and we’ll be defeated. We cannot fight the enemy on our own; we cannot fight temptation on our own; we cannot fight the flesh on our own. We need to watch and pray. We need to submit to God, by praying for strength, direction, and guidance. We need to pray for God to go before us; to show us the things that we cannot see with our natural eye. We need to pray for God to help us to walk in the Spirit, so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. We need to watch and pray. Watch and pray; Everyday!!! To be an over-comer and to be victorious we must do the following: (and in this order…) “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 Submit to God, first; then we can resist the devil; then he’ll leave us alone (for a season). Put on your spiritual eyes (watch). Open your mouth (pray)
