| What To Do When The Load Is Heavy |
|
| |
Perhaps responsiblilities are heaped upon you. Every one looks to you and depends on you to be the strong one and get things done.
Perhaps your heart is broken and depression has set in. It is hard to get out of bed in the morning, it is hard to function, it is difficult to get excited about anything. Your joy is gone and seems to be very little hope.
Perhaps you are overwhelmed with fear at this moment. Worry and fear constantly nag at you, as you are uncertain how things will play out, and you expect the worst. Maybe you are facing a severe situation like terminal sickness, divorce, unemployment, bankruptcy, or homelessness and you don't know what to do to make your situation any better.
Perhaps you are grieving over a loved one. A death of someone you love. A divorce of a marriage partner. A child who has strayed away despite your best efforts to keep them from harm. Maybe a best friend has betrayed you.
This life is filled with so much pain and suffering, that it is a wonder that more us don't loose our minds and have a mental breakdown. We are stressed out, tired out, give out, and it seems like we can not take any more!
If this is you there are two things I would like to remind you of.
1st If you are tired, cast all of your cares upon Jesus for Jesus cares for you.
"Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you." II Peter 5:7 KJV That word "casting" means to throw. You need to throw your anxieties, fears, worries, cares up to Jesus and let Him take them. Jesus has broad shoulders. He carried His own cross through the Via Dela Rosa before Simon of Cyrene was ordered to take up the Lord's cross. He can take all your pain, hurt, wounds, anger, resentment, bitterness and such upon Himself. He understands our emotions for He was a human just like us. That is why the Bible tells us that He is the best High Priest ever, because He suffered just like we do. We really are not built to take the weight of the world upon us, but Jesus is! He took the burden of sin for the whole world and took it upon Himself. He surely can take what you have to give Him. Give all of your concerns to Him for He loves you. He is able to work all things together for our good. With Him nothing is impossible! So if you are feeling weighed down by the worries of this world, shake off those heavy bands and cast them on Jesus! You will feel lighter, freer, and happier because you gave your problems to Jesus.
The 2nd thing I would like to remind you of is: IF YOU ARE TIRED, COME UNTO TO HIM FOR HE WILL GIVE YOU REST.
11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 11:30 For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light. There are times that we are so overcome with worry that we have trouble falling asleep at night. When we worry it drains all of our energy. We become tired and exhausted, depressed, lazy, and start feeling helpless. (Can I get a witness?) Jesus said that if we would come to Him, He would give us rest. One thing He says here that is such an awesome illustration is the picture of the yoke. The yoke is designed to bring two oxen, horses, mules etc..together to work. The yoke is designed to equally distribute the load they pull, and it keeps the two beasts in unison. Jesus says that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. What that tells us is that HE DOES ALL THE WORK! Jesus is the workhorse! He is the strong one! He is the one that carries our weight. That is just awesome! These burdens you are carrying around that are wearing you down, Jesus is saying to us "Come over here and walk with Me." "Hook up with Me and you will feel better and not have to work so hard." What a deal! There is no reason for us to carry all the burdens of the world on us when we have Jesus who is always with us right there to shoulder the load for us.
So, cheer up! Take a few moments and get alone with the Lord and throw all those worries and cares on Him. Come to Him for He is waiting for you. He loves you. He wants you to quit struggling and to trust in Him. Once you decide to give HIm your burdens, don't take them back again, leave them there with Him. You will be glad you did!

| In Truth, agreeing with Robin, You've definitely got a witness, AMEN! I also needed this right now. I was just yesterday thinking, while working in the kitchen of Jesus carrying the cross, that lonnnng walk. Be encouraged my brother, as you continue sharing what He's speaking by His Spirit within you, He surely is witnessing of Himself :) |

| this is an excellent reminder......how easy, when we go through hard times, that we forget to cast our cares and worries on him......and you are so right.....once you give it to Him, don't make the mistake of taking it back, i know sometimes it is very hard not to do this, but we must trust Him and let His perfect work be done in us |

Scott Wesley Brown sang a song back in the 80's "If He carried the weight of the world upon His shoulders, I know my brother/sister that He will carry you."
Juan, I have heard that verse hundreds of times or more, but I love that rendering. You may say how can God get pleasure out of our suffering? It is what the suffering produces that gives Him pleasure...being conformed into the image of His Son.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. |

| Bro Todd, there are a great many saints who fall into the "tired" category....they (we) need to be reminded of these very things. Thanks! |
