If believe, repent, and confess are the only essentials to baptism, then how do you account for:
16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.

Mark, an inspiried man says believe and be baptized. Or how about this:

3:21 which also after a true likeness doth now save you, `even' baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

The apostle Peter writes that baptism "doth now save you". How does these (and others - Acts 2:38) fit into salvation if not for being necessary?

The word speak for it self
2:37 Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do? 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call. 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls. 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

New Beginnings Pentecostal Church

Being "Born Again" means differnt things to differnt people. Thus the scriptures supply the only real and true answer. There are a lot of issues in our faith that we all have minor disgreements on, but some are very clear. Luke 24:47 says that "repentence and remission of sins should be preached in His Name, beginning in Jerusalem". Jesus did not say "acceptance" is to be preached--for we are accepted of the Father when we obey the Son. Jesus also said in Matt. 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you". So they hightailed it Jerusalem and waited to be endued (Acts1:8) with power from on high.  The chuch in Acts was the first fruits(Jews) of the New Birth experience of water and Spirit. This pattern is repeated throughout the book of Acts with the gentiles as well as Jews. Has the church changed? Has the Pentecostal new birth experiance changed? No, it's just that we all are growing in grace until we all come to the fullness of the knowledge of the Son of God. So lets all keep growing and keep searching the scriptures, for in them "ye think ye have eternal life"?

Stick your finger in a light socket and you will know you have come in contact with electricity.

I love how the Apostle Paul described to Luke his conversion experience in Acts 9.
One of the miracles of salvation is suddenly, instantly because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in "who we are" not our bodies but "the person" living in the tent that we temperarily live in, when I call your name, the "you" who answers, the Holy Spirit who causes that one to be born again, that person suddenly knows the truth! And as the Apostle Paul did we proclaim the Truth.  Him.  Jesus.  He is ALIVE!  Thats the first piece of armor a Christian puts on.  Gird your loins with truth.

Clear, understandable and a good reminder "from whence we have come".  Thanks.

I had one thought, David.  Before I became reborn, it was hard for me to merely "believe".  No one can put belief in your heart except you.  So, I began looking at it from another perspective...I could learn to trust, then belief would come.  For other words, in my pragmatic mindset, I could trust that the car would start each morning because the evidence was empirical.  Once I trusted the vehicle was operational, I could believe that it would take me anywhere I wanted to go.

So, once I trusted the Word as God's truth, I could believe that Christ died and rose again.  Confession was easy after grasping that!  Am I weird or what?

You know I never heard Pastor Ron say that about the light socket.  The Lord Jesus saved me in 83, I went for 4 years and then for a reason I can't now fathom I stopped going to Valley for 8 years.  So if Pastor Ron said that, cool!  we do have the same Holy Spirit!  And as far as your dad having the same experience as the Apostle Paul are you talking about speaking in tongues or seeing Christ?

What happened to being born in the water and the spirit? you talk about repentence, but there is more to it, What about Acts? Acts 2 for instance, When the Holy Ghost was  given, that was the baptism of the spirit.

2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Baptism of the Water, was the baptism in Jesus Name, and The Baptism of the Spirit, was the reception of the Gift of the Holy Ghost, you failedl to delve into it, just talking about repentence does not do anything about the New birth
