| 90 Day Probation Period... |
|
| |
I have been thinking a lot recently about how accurate I am in figuring a person out. I'm in charge of hiring people in the office I work in. People interviewing for a job; of course put their best foot forward. You know… try their best to make a good first impression. I have found the best person for the job is the person whose words most closely reflect their actions, ie: their job performance. It takes on average about 90 days before you see the "real" person you have hired. This is why so many employers have a 90 day probation period with new hires.
Unfortunately, we don't have that option with all "new" people we come in contact with, do we? I'm not talking about here on MyChurch, but face to face. We all hold back a bit when first meeting someone. I know I do, but I have to be careful... am I just holding back a bit until I get to know a person, or am I giving an impression that I'm someone I’m not? Or feel something I don't. I want the first impression to be the best it can be...but I want it to be accurate. I mean my actions should reflect the things I've said and the words I say should be what I really mean right? It's hard to be honest especially if what you're honest about makes you "look" bad. So we could end up saying things we don't mean... or not say something we should.
Sometimes people intentional give the wrong impression. The Pharisees were that way, acting and speaking in such a way to make people think they were different than they were. But it also happens today. What do you do when you run across someone like this? It’s difficult, for me at least, to know if my ministering is really ministering. Sometimes I think my care and concern is actually enabling a person to stay just where they are. I guess I get confused with the difference between confronting in love and loving unconditionally. You know? Maybe, sometimes, instead of ministering … I’m just enabling… Oh well, I've decided to keep trying and be willing to give everyone a fair shake, even if that means I'm wrong on occasion.
Dear God,
Sometimes I feel like I have poured myself into something or someone, and worked and fought for a cause, only to see no fruits for my labors. It all seemed in vain. But I know that you can work in all of that to fulfill a greater purpose. Please, don't let the labor of my heart and hands be in vain. I pray that all I do would be as unto you and for a good purpose and eternal value. Please bless the works of my heart and hands for your glory. Please give me the wisdom to know if or when, it’s time to shake the dust off my sandals and go in a different direction or focus on someone else entirely. Help me remember this is your work, Lord, not mine. Please guide me every step and every day in ministering to those you love. And please forgive me for those times I fail to love as you have commanded.
In Jesus' name, Amen. |

13:8 Love never faileth: but whether `there be' prophecies, they shall be done away; whether `there be' tongues, they shall cease; whether `there be' knowledge, it shall be done away.
Those first three words are enough said! |

thanks for writting this it makes sense to make a good impression ur first time going into anything for that matter and also that even if we fail to love as god has commanded us to that we can be forgiven of it and move on and their is no way to please everybody we are and will not be able to please everybody that comes in our direction and also that god has unconditional love and he also loves us because we are his children and being children of god and being in god's family means something and it is not to be taken lightly at all cuz it is a blessing and a privilage to be apart of god's family and one of his children as well and u know when we feel defeated and like were not doing our best that is when god is their the most to help us out with whatever may be going wrong in our lives at that moment and also we are human and we are going to make mistakes and mess up and do wrong things sometimes and most likely are whole lives because god new before anyone was born that we would be born into sin and with a want to do sin as well so when u do any of those things in any of those titles or topic's or in any manner learn and know that the lord is always there for u and he will always listen to ur prayers and petitions and also to ur crying out to him for forgiveness or for anything and i mean it can be for anything alright and know that he is there for u always and i also understand from ur point of view that u were trying to have some kind of a greater purpose fullfilled and u feel that u know that their was no fruit being fullfilled by ur laborsand i understand that it felt like it was in vain and that sometimes things just dont work out the way we want them too and also i understand what ur saying about being honest and sometimes and even alot of times we make a big mistake and do a wrong thing by saying the wrong things alot of times and even too much at times as well and we just gotta be alittle bit more careful with what are actions will do to another person or what they will feel and we gotta be careful of the things we do,say, act, behave like, and also think and how are thought's are of that person, place, thing and also i try to figure a person out by observing them and asking them questions and hanging out with them and just getting to know them alot and also knowing if their right for the job or not and also giving them a fair shake also at the job even though they have a 90 day probation period!!!!!!!!!!!! and ok gurl u rock and god bless u and also sometimes i think ur a sweet angel from heaven god bless u always richly and abundantly

Glad to hear we aren't on a 90-day probation Robin! lol
I believe as I walk w/Christ, there will be many situations where I reach out in love only see my fruits wasted....in my eyes, that is. But if only I had a pair of "spiritual glasses", that I could see what the Holy Spirit continues to do long after I've given up on the person.... |

| Mike n Laura.... that is so true... sometimes I think I know exactly how everything is turning out by what I see right now. And most of the time I'm not as smart as I think I am. lol I understand what you mean Mike. I have to remember the "Holy Spirit working after I quit" part, instead of wow I failed what a drag.... Anyways, just another lesson I'm learning. Thanks you for your words. |

I think it's most important to remember, as you stated in your prayer, that we're following Him/the leading of His Spirit , and in knowing this, that in whatever He instructs us to do in obedience, that do and keep walking, because He is the performer of His word, not us :) We ONLY plant or water, and the giving of increase is His alone, and there is freedom in this Truth, but we have to keep the focus on Him, so that we don't "wander in wonder". I went from disappointment to disappointment before I finally (duh) received the understanding. I'm thankful that you shared this, we always need to be reminded, and more so from a new perspective..yours in Him :) I wish it had only taken 90 days for me to learn this Truth! :big smile: Love in Jesus, LM |
