I like to call the Apostle Paul the "Moses to the gentiles." And what a perfect person for the Lord Jesus to choose! Immersed in the Law one day and immersed in Grace the next. I like Luthers explanation of the Apostle Paul's message, "Salvation by faith through grace," "faith gives me the freedom to live in grace." The Apostle Paul was the ONLY person in the New Testament writtings the Lord Jesus allowed to say, "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ." 1 Corinthians 11.1 Thats a heady thing! I think he said it 4 times in different letters. All others, Christians are told to imitate their faith. I also think Apostle Paul was named after the 1st king of Israel Saul. The Lord has a sense of humor. King Saul was a head taller than all his countrymen, and Saul's last name means "bent." The Apostle Paul formerly Saul was little in stature and not much to look at. |
