| The Most Perfect Father! |
|
| |
103:13Like as a father pitieth his children, So Jehovah pitieth them that fear him.
Another version says The Lord is like a Father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him.
David knew. He had felt the pain, experienced the shame of going so far astray that he thought he would never get to go home again. He knew what it was like to admit all this to His Father God.
But he also knew the Manner of his Father God. The bellowing kind, determined to make an example of David for his other children? The sullen kind, who is so hurt, so wounded in pride that one of his sons could do wrong that he withdraws his love in sullen silence? the preoccupied, "boys will be boys" kind, that barely acknowledges, much less punishes, a rebellious child?
The great Lord of Heaven, the One who has Power to bellow, the reason to withdraw, and a universe of things to occupy His Attention-was none of those! He was a Perfect Father, tender and compassionate! Why? "For He understands how weak we are; He knows we are only dust." (Psalm 103:14) David ran like the shepherd boy that he was to His Father.
What is Compassion? It is love in action. Our Perfect Father is Compassionate for you and me. How glorious is this. He knows how frail we are. He knows our weaknesses. He understands. In all the universe He chooses to be with us. He is a Perfect Father.
David ran to worship God. He ran into his Strong-Tower. He called himself to praise, "Praise the Lord, I tell myself....Praise the Lord I tell myself..." So do we also being children of God just as precious to the Father as King David was, call ourselves to respond in praise?
Remember your Tender and Compassionate Father who stands ready to tend and spare you, bear you, rescue you from all darkness, called you to be a light in this dead and dying world. Tell yourself to PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME! Praise to the Everlasting King! |
