I know Bob Barr I used to live in Columbus, GA when he was a Represenative.  I think many people would find the Libertarian Party a viable option.  I have never figured out why they haven't made more in roads.  It would not be hard for him to be on the ballet.  Iwonder how can he get his message out there? For people to know who he is and what he is about. Also would say that is it is a hard sell since our country has become more and more "socialized and government dependent."  The country is a ripe as ever for a 3rd party but it won't be to the right side of the spectrum I can promise you that.

I reviewed his platform and, for the most part, I am right in line with him. I know nothing of the man. I agree with you that we are ripe for a third party, but not this one. That is unfortunate because I do see our liberty slowly slipping away.

I saw this announcement on a Yahoo news spot. My first impression was why? Why make this announcement now? Why use the Libertarian party to run? Maybe Mr. Barr is a viable candidate but coming into the race so late in the game makes me suspect of his motivations.

Steve, the others have been "racing" to be their party's candidate. The Libertarian party needs no race, per se. The campaign for the presidency will officially start in August after the Party Conventions. Granted, by starting earlier, we get a chance to learn more about them...
