Thanks, Sue!  MicPsalms, as far as I know, there is no graphics pool on MyChurch, but there are lots of outside sites that offer all kinds of graphics.  For example I found several Easter graphics at http://www.faithclipart.com/fca/browse.do?cat=34551 .  (I haven't tried to use them, but if that's not what you're looking for, google "myspace graphics" and "Easter", and you should get plenty of options.  Good luck!

We actually did create some Easter greeting cards that folks can send to their Myspace friends:

Card1

Card2

Card3

Card4

Card5

Card6

Card7

Card8

Enjoy!

Hi, Rosie!

Mike, you are quite the marketer!  I'm proud to host your ad!

Joe, thanks for jumping in!  How else can we get to these cards other than through these links?  I tried from here (card #4), and it didn't go through for me.  (The friends list comes up, but then it gives me a this-page-can't-be-displayed page.  The cards are a great idea!  These work only for Myspace, not for MyChurch friends.  Is that correct?  Thanks!!!

Oops Oops!  The cards were going through, just not on my end!  Now all my myspace friends have 5 copies of the same card!  I had to send out a bulletin apology!

Exclamation I have received requests from other churches asking if they can rework this blog for their own churches.  Yes!!!  It's purpose is to help everyone get around better in MyChurch!  Of course you have no debt to me at all, but it would be greatly appreciated if you could add just a small note at the bottom "borrowed from Kathy" and link to my page!  You can copy and paste from here:

borrowed from <a href="http://www.mychurch.org/kathy">Kathy</a>     Thanks!

Kathy, that sounds like a great idea, this looks professionally done and could probably be used as a webpage on MyChurch for newbies. ~mike

Kathy, we didn't make these cards public because of the fact that its a littly buggy (as you found out).  Myspace doesn't seem to cooperate in letting us write comments on some accounts.  We're trying to work out the bugs here...

Yes you can use these cards on places other that myspace as well...

Kathy - Thanks for the info.  I'm new to MyChurch and fairly new to MySpace and largely computer illiterate!  (I'd be lost without my kids helping me out!)  I blog on MySpace regularly and have it as a feed on my blog page on MyChurch, but I don't really know how that makes it accessible to readers on this site.  Any insight?  What I'd love to do is have the blogs go to both sites, but I don't know if that's possible.  Any info you might be able to give me is greatly appreciated.  Blessings to you!

Hi Jen, I am really not the tech expert, so if anyone can give Jen a better answer than this, please jump in!  I haven't tried the blog feed, but it seems this is how to do it:  Click on write like you are going to start a new blog.  In the top right corner click Edit Feed.  The instructions there say "If you have a blog somewhere else, you can automatically transmit it to your MyChurch.org blog by entering in your RSS feed. For example, if you have a blog on Xanga, simply enter in http://www.xanga.com/USERNAME/rss," and there is a textbox there for the url.

If it works well for you, tell me about it, and I'll try it too!  What I do is this:  I activate the html and copy and paste the html from one site to the html field of the other.  To copy, hold down the Ctrl key and press c.  To paste, hold down the Ctrl key and press v.   That's quick and easy, but blog feed may be better!

Anybody else have a voice of experience?

Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

Hi Jen - You can blog once and then syndicate your blog to MyChurch.org.  Kathy's instructions are spot on.

Message me if you're having trouble with it.  You basically need to find your rss feed from myspace and enter it into your MyChurch Edit Feed window described above.  Then you can continue blogging on myspace and it will transmit automatically for your readers here.

Note that you cannot go the opposite way.  We provide an outgoing rss feed for your MyChurch blog, but Myspace doesn't allow you to read in external feeds.  In that sense, mychurch is better than myspace ;)

Great info and a great help.

We just signed our church up and would LOVE to pass on your blog to some others as a help tool.  Mind if I cut and paste it and adjust the info to read CANVAS Church?

Kathy- I copied this directly into my church's bulletin (We're up to a whopping three members now!) and so they can see it just as it appears on your page. If this comment works, then I guess it all works for anyone to click on stuff just as on your page..

Well- I just got this posted on the bottom of my bulletin, but it didn't show up on your page! So much for that experiment...

I have a question for anyone who can answer... How do I put this blog, as a link, on my church's page, so that more of them will get more use out of this site?  I guess I know how to add a link, but I don't know how to find what THIS link is?  Am I making sense, or is my stupid showing? :)  ~Val~

You can either put a note about it or use HTML tags by typing...Just make sure you put the quote around the web address.

<a href="put-your-link-here.com">this is where you put the text you want displayed</a>

Kathy,

Is How to Add Music To Your Profile Page worthy of this blog?

lol :)
Kathy
June 30, 2007 at 8:32pm
Thanks, Sue!  I didn't go into detail here about how to add backgrounds, graphics, music, photos, quizzes, etc., since the sites themselves have instructions, but I'm glad you added your link for those who need it!  Speaking of plugs, I heard today that scientists think they can re-create a caveman with DNA.  If so, it will be fun to test your assertion by letting him try to post a MyChurch video!  Hopefully he will join!   :)

Hi Jack2U!  It's never too late to comment on a blog!  The later the more appreciated!   :)   Welcome to MyChurch, and thanks for sharing this blog with others.  I love the music on your page and look forward to seeing more of you!

I've just found this blog! GREEEEAAAATT blog! Perhaps I've not see the comment help yet, but I noticed the quote box on some of the comments to a blog and do not know how to get it on there. It certainly helps keep "they said/I say" clearer. If there is a place that explains using comment to blogs on mychurch, please direct me there.

Hi Yahschild!  Thanks for the kind words!  As far as I know there is currently no feature here like what you are describing.  When I want to respond to a particular comment, I say "Dave said . . . ." and just copy and paste what he said.  There is, however, a Scripture quote box, located on the tool bar of the comment box as a Bible icon.  Click on the Bible and choose the passage you want to include, and it will show up boxed in.  This is the only "quote box" I am familiar with here.
