UPDATE 5-19
I am not going to be answering any comments, just wanted to give you an update. We are in Colorado, and there just isn't enough time to spend on blogs. The following note came from my sister, and is the latest. Also the picture below, is of Amy, the mother, and baby Kelsey. Today is the day of the MRI, so just keep this family and the baby in your prayers. This is really hard for me since we are so far away. I want to go to the hospital and visit these kids...but it will have to wait until we get back home. Please pray for a miracle, because that is what it is going to take.
"Just got off the phone with Tom and he wanted me to give you an update on baby Kelsey. He said yesterday was a horrible day. Doctors said there was very little brain activity and Phil and Amy were quite depressed. Today, though, was quite different. She was awake a lot and very alert. they took the tubes out of her belly button and placed her on her tummy. Phil said she tried to lift her head. They have increased the amount of milk they are feeding her and she is handling it okay. She is also having bowel movements and kidneys are still functioning. However, she still doesn't have the gag reflex and they are concerned about this. She may have to be fed through a stomach tube if this doesn't improve. She still is on oxygen. They have tried to take her off but then end up putting her back on it.
This is going to be quite costly - no matter what. Phil and Amy's church has donated gas cards and is going to do a benifit. And Tom's kids (Anna, Sarah and Noah) have gotten together and given Phil and Amy enough money for four month's mortgage payments. Anna's husband plans to do something - a collection or benefit and donate the money to them. Phil and Amy also have a lot of friends who are pitching in.
So keep them in your thoughts and prayers."

UPDATE 5/15
Things are still touch and go with the baby, who has a name now...Kelsey Nicole. They are keeping her sedated, she has all kinds of tubes and wires hooked up to her. Since she is sedated, they do not know at this time how much damage there has been. When she was born, apparently everything was normal, her heartbeat, etc. The chord was wrapped around her neck but they don't think that caused her to stop breathing., since it was loose. Apparently the doctors normally will work on a baby for twenty minutes, and if they can't get vitals they will declare death. They had twenty seconds to go when her heart started beating. She may be fine, she may not, but the fact she has lived this long means she will no doubt live. They were worried about her kindeys and bowels, but she has urinated, but that is all. They are going to try tomorrow to bring her out of sedation and try nursing her. Please, please, keep praying. Your prayers mean the world to me and my family. God does hear. Pray for this mom and dad and all those caring for this little girl, that they will have wisdom and strength to deal with whatever happens.
I found out last night that my nephew and his wife had a baby yesterday, a little girl, and she was born not breathing. They were able to get her heart going, and sent her to Akron Children's hospital, where she then started having seizures. They do not know at this time for sure that she will make it, and if she does, they do not know what kind of damage has been done. Please keep them in your prayers. My nephew and his wife are Phil and Amy, I do not know the little girl's name yet. My brother and his wife are Tom and Pat. All are very upset about this, as it was very unexpected. Please pray... |

| Dear Holy Father, Please bless this family and precious little girl. Let your love and comfort surround them, carry them all through this trial. Let your presence be felt and seen and heard. Guide the doctors, and medical staff as they take care of this child and give strength to her parents as they wait. Please surround this family with Godly friends who will keep them all in constant prayer before your holy throne. In Jesus name. Amen |

I felt led to look up her name - Kelsey comes from the Irish origin. In Irish The meaning of the name Kelsey is: Brave. Nicole is a Greek name and it means: Victory of the people Names are so important so everytime we call her Kelsey Nicole we are calling her brave victory! In Jesus Name - Kelsey Nicole- live and be normal -- God, thank you for a miracle -- xxoxoxo |
