My husband calls me Moofer.  I know; cheesey...we call Josiah the Moofer too.  Moofer foofer. lol 

As a youngster my siblings couldn't say Cheryl so I was "Herl"
In Jr. HIgh and High School I was called "Cool Hand" (remember the movie?)
In my twenty's is was "Peanut".... that was in the cb days.
Skipping  to 9yrs ago......
It is now "Big Mama" (I requested this one from my grand-children in memory of my "BigMama")

These names are really cool....  I like the reasons why you have them, too.
 
My husband tried to call me Woman, but that did not work out well.

Voice, WHATEVER! lol Don't mind me; I'm Canadian, eh? lol

stewpot calls me LA and "babe".  and if he werent' British, he wouldn't be calling me babe! lol 

My Aunt and Grandmother called me Nell. It's the only nickname I ever liked (except for Mom and Meme by my kids and their kids). My real name is Janell and I've always loved it 'cause it is a combination of my mom's name and my Dad's. So it is special and I like to be called that. Other nicknames carry negative baggage: In my teen years guys sometimes called me Red but it was usually accompanied by negative speculation about a bad temper they suspected must go along with my red hair. An uncle called me Piglet because of my last name (don't ask! & don't call me Piglet! I will not answer!) My husband's mother called me "that girl" at first but she later apologized and dropped it. Thank God!

Now, Joey! I did say she apologized. She didn't know me and she was afraid her son would marry me instead of going off to college. It was just a fear of hers, it had nothing to do with me. I was only 15 and not the marriage-minded hussy she thought me to be. We did marry when I was grown up - at 20 and had a good job, in his last semester at college. She opposed that, too, but it worked out very well. He was able to stay home and study instead of spending time driving a distance to see me! It took her awhile, but God convicted her and she came around.

I had a boss who called me "whoever you are".  It was so embarrassing and hurt my feelings but I was afraid to tell her.

Here's how I feel about the nickname "SugarBooger" that just surfaces: I'm covering my ears.

Thanks for bringing out the 'child' in us.  I am called 'Ragi' by my family. 'Rags' by some friends. Mike ( Mike and Laura) calls me 'Rag'

I like being called as 'Ragi' - because when people become close with me they call me that.

Ragland, I've caught myself calling you Rag too.

Nicknames are good!  They help us to be close.

Sunshine, by my parents and NOT because I was a sunny child --I found out later! LOL

"Hi Water" in Youth For Christ (high school) --a cute little redhead started that one, so I didn't mind much.  {grin}

Joey, I tried the "Woman" thing a few times, too. Must be a guy thing. It didn't work for me either. I call her Babe most of the time now.

One name I forgot...when I was in the military some called me "Crit" - mostly behind my back because I was an officer. They thought I could sneak up on just about anything like a "critter" in the woods.  I had the world's best NCO and he was the one that told me about it.

My dad used to call me bugsbunny for my over bite and still does.

My mom calls me margalet. 

"J" sounds good to me! It's much preferable to all that other business {{{shudder}}}

What I want to know is how do I pronounce Lara if I don't say Lar-ruh like I do for Laura ????

Sue - all friends and preferred name
Honey - Husband
Mommy - Daughters (Unless their friends are around, then it's "Mom.")

And my BC nick-name cannot be posted on this Christian site :)  Let's just say that the Lord has done the miraculous!  Oh, and He calls me friend!

What Sue said reminded me, (Thanks, Sue!) Christ calls me Friend, too, and the Father calls me Hepzibah: my delight is in her. Maybe that's what my earthly father means when he calls me Sugarbooger!
