| My Attitude Part 1: "Press On!" |
|
| |
It has been sometime since I have been able to sit behind a computer and share some of my thoughts with you. I'm blessed to be able to do so, somewhat. I am still healing and hope to be little by little back to writing. Keep on reading and you'll know I'll be back. God has been dealing with me concerning how I react to circumstances. My Attitude. The only thing you can really control. The only thing that can really set you off, or make you happy. It's your attitude.
Let me share with you an excerpt from John Hagee's book, The seven Secrets... Dr. Viktor Frankl is a Jewish Physician is a survivor who endured the hell of the Nazi Holocaust. The Nazis Killed his family, placed him in a concentration camp, starved him, beat him, and cut off his hair to shame him. His name was forgotten and in it's place his arm was tattooed with the symbol for political prisoners. When the horror of the Holocaust mercifully ended, Dr. Frankl was not seething with bitterness or a compulsive inner rage that demanded revenge. He was not broken or bowed by the Nazi hell he had just endured. When asked how he managed to endure such a vicious and inhuman treatment with such a positive outlook on life, he said, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms, to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
Over the last 3 1/2 months of my life, I have lived with excruciating pain 24/7. I endured surgery to fix the problem and still 2 weeks later I'm waiting to heal and not feel pain everyday. At times it has caused me to have these little bursts of faith "Lord I believe I'm going to receive my healing" and little burst of doubt "Lord I feel like I'm never going to be healed or free from this pain". A battle that rages inside of me. In my pain I have learned different feelings. My pain has allowed me to know other pains, pains of despair, pains of discouragements, pains of doubt, pains of loneliness, pains of anger, etc. & etc... I came to understand what the father of the epileptic child felt in Mark 9 when he came to the Lord Jesus to heal his son, The Lord said to him in verse 23 & 24, "Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” ..." Help my unbelief, I believe, but help my unbelief. It was going to take more than just believing. It was going to take an attitude change. That no matter the circumstance, keep on trusting. Not only that, but if it never happens, then change the only thing you really have control of, Your Attitude! Don't get me wrong, I'll say like the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:12 "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." I'm not saying I have passed this trial and have made it through, but I will "Press on" to the high calling in Jesus Christ. Press on, your situation, don't give up. When things don't go your way "Press on"! When it feels like all the weight of the world is on your shoulders, "Press on!". When you don't have any money, "Press on!" When your family feels like it's falling apart, "Press on!" whatever your situation, "Press on!" Tell someone, "Press on!" "Press on!" "Press on!" That's the attitude. The attitude of victory, the attitude of demonstrating God's love, The attitude is the only thing you can change for sure. So my Homework for you this week is, when someone asks you "How are you doing?" or "what's up?", you answer " I'm pressing on" Hallelujah!. Hopefully together we can confuse the heck out of the devil....lol . Remember your attitude adjustment every morning. Proverbs 8:17 says, "And those that seek me early shall find me." Seek him early in your car or in the shower or walking to the bus stop..., or find time to be in prayer with Him.... before your day begins, and "Press on!"
God bless you indeed,
Pastor Marc |
