Some questions for us to ponder:
Worried about growing gas and grocery bills and losing your house in this economy?
Think of the people of Myanmar. They are now getting pelted with MORE rain after experiencing a horrendous cyclone that washed away entire families and villages. To make matters worse, their own government is hindering the aide of other countries who wish to assist the victims and help those who are dying as they wait. They have little food, no shelter, no clean water. They truly have lost EVERYTHING. My car is still running (albeit, my gas tank has not registered "full" in many a month)! My home is still standing with my family safely inside, I have running water to drink and bathe in. Hey, I had a piece of chicken tonight for dinner. I'm thankful.
Children driving you nuts? Think of the people of China . . . who, after experiencing a 7+ earthquake now dig their children out from under decimated schools and apartment buildings. Remember that they stand, praying that their ONLY child (a result of a long standing law inacted by their government limiting them to only one child per family) will be pulled from the rubble alive. Many of them are seeing the sudden end of their bloodlines as their babies' bodies are pulled lifeless from the debris. I look at my healthy, happy babies and I am thankful. If you still have your children . . . be grateful.
Spouse getting on your last nerves?
Consider what happened in our own backyard. Remember the young woman who just had her loving husband violently taken from her, on Mother's Day, as she labored to give birth to their first born son. All he was trying to do is get some gas so he could drive her to the hospital to give birth. He was attacked and stabbed by a crazed youth. She now faces a future without her mate as she learns how to be a mom. Lord, whatever the problems we may have, I thank you for giving me my husband as lover, friend and father to our children. Thank you Jesus.
I could say more but I think that is enough to think about for now. The news as of late has made me very aware of just HOW GOOD Jesus has been to me, despite all the tribulation. "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock." Psalm 27:5
