Recently I was watching Pastor John Hagee on television and he was presenting one of his usual great sermons. This time, he had a basic question, "Do you know about God, or do you know God? Do you wear your Christianity, or do you have Christ in your heart?" These questions are actually more difficult than some might think. In fact, it might have been the number one question asked of my relationship with Christ about five years ago. As a cradle Catholic, I spent my time in the church working: Altar Server, Lectur, Choir, Eucharistic Minister, Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, training Altar Servers, and whatever else was asked of me. Somehow though, I was always missing the ability to become a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church. The other problem I was having is that I did not feel close enough to Christ. Here was I, looking like I knew all about Christ, but I did not have Him in my heart. It took four different men, over a six year period, just talking to me and answering questions, that I finally saw the difference. I accepted Christ as my Savior and from then on attended a local Baptist Church. God's plan, thankfully, had my wife and two daughters follow very quickly. This is a shortened version of my own story, but hopefully an example of someone who would have looked from the outside as having it all. In fact, I was often asked to help others with their faith. But God knew where I truly was, and He did not let me rest. The Holy Spirit continued to weigh in on me, giving me discomfort until I called upon the Trinity for my salvation. So, if you are active in your church, but are uncomfortable in your heart about your relationship in the Lord, do not let it wait. Seek out God, Confess your sins and Repent, and ask Jesus Christ into your heart, turning your life over to Him. You may not have to leave your current church (I am not anti-Catholic even now) like I did, but it would be a small price to pay if it meant your eternal soul was assured of heaven.
