I am about to tell you something that you may not understand, agree with, or even want to hear.  Yet it must be said.

This life is not about you.

There you have it....a tough pill to swallow for most of us, but one that needs to be grasped.  Lately, God has been showing me several things reminding me of this phrase.  Here are some things that may help you be more selfless. 

Each day that you live was given to you by God, so that you can help impact someone else's life by allowing God to use you.

When you give gifts at Christmas time, be humble, people do not need to know what deals you got at Walmart.

And when these people do not respond with smiles and hugs, just be patient...they enjoy the gift more than you know.

God gave you food so that you can share it with others...not so you can enlarge your belly.

Your body is a testimony of God's love and power....take care of it....so that He can use it for what it is.

When someone doesn't answer the phone, do not get upset.  Pray...and then give it to God.  They may be in the restroom or asleep. 

If your friend is asleep when you get there.  Ask them if they are feeling up to the plans.  For they may need a night off to sleep.

If someone is late by a few minutes, do not immediately get in thier face about it.  You nevr know if they had a sudden urge of diarrhea while getting stuck in rush hour traffic.

If a group of people grow suddenly quiet when you approach, do not always think that they are talking about you.  In fact, they may be gossipping about someone else and knows that because you are a Christian....they stopped.

Do not go around bragging that you have Christ and others do not.  You can not share God's love to someone by belittling them.

Sharing your tears with God is human....sharing your tears with the world is selfish.

When we were born...we didn't have cellphones, computers, or videogames....so when someone else doesn't respond right away to a call or email...do not get angry and play a videogame of shooting peopl...simply remember that this life is not about you.

Well I hope that these made your heart laugh alittle, yet made you remember the seriousness of selflessness.  Remember that when Jesus Christ died....He did it not for Himself....but for you....and your family....and your friends....and well....your enemies too.
