“The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth" (Luke 3:5).
I love the Global Positioning Systems (GPS) in new cars. I don’t have one myself but, my boss does, he showed me how it worked on the way to an office meeting the other day. A voice came on and told him how far he had to go and when to turn. However, that day he took a wrong turn and the voice said: "Recalculating route." The GPS told him he had was off course and that it was recalculating the route based on his wrong turn! Wow! It got me thinking… sometimes we can make wrong turns in our spiritual lives. We think we are going the right direction only to discover it was never God's will to make those choices or go down that road… the examples are limitless.
This is an amazing, awesome, wonderful thing about God. He can make our crooked places straight. He has an ability to make whatever blunder you make turn out right. It may mean there might be some consequences to those decisions, but He will always allow your actions to work together for good for those called according to His purposes if we repent and seek Him fully to make things right. These lessons can even contribute to greater wisdom in our lives if we learn from our mistakes.
God's omnipotence is always one step ahead of our incompetence. Praise God!! Do you think He knew you would make that misstep? Absolutely. Do you think your life was planned even with that misstep figured in? Absolutely. Isn't it comforting to know you cannot plan God out of the equation no matter how bad you mess up? He will always turn crooked places into straight places for those who are humble and contrite. Isn’t He just awesome?!?

Wow Robin, this is the 2nd GPS blog I've seen on MyChurch (Sue wrote the other one). It makes for some GREAT metaphors!! Besides, I work in the mapping sciences, and we use (depend on) GPS data for our accuracies. I'm a geek!! lol
Great blog, sis! |

| Thanks... I'm a geek for this kind of stuff too. Sadly though even if I had a GPS on my car I wouldnt use it much. You know... living in a small town there's not much need for it, but the metaphors, analogies whatever are neat huh? Thanks for the encouragment...I'll take a look at Sue's blog. Thanks for the info. :0) |

Robin, your blogs are insighful and full of revelation! Isn't it cool how the Holy Spirit constantly teaches us stuff? Isn't it cool that you are receptive enough to see it? Isn't it awesome to be able to pass it on to others? You are blessed and a blessing! Got to tell you that this illustration is fantastic along with the verse you used!
I also loved the quote: God's omnipotence is always one step ahead of our incompetence.
Is that original? I want to use that when I preach...Robyn the great writer on mychurch.org said...they will work right? |

| Brother Todd... thank you for your very very nice words. :0) The quote... i beleive I have heard it before. I do know I had to use spell check to get the spelling right :0) I have actually heard the comparison between GPS and God before too I think. I've just never had experience at it and didn't really understand it until just recently. Bless you though for the encouragemtn!!! |

Good blog Robin I have thought about God knowing my wrong turn ahead of time and still meeting me where I am, but the GPS example adds some tangibility to it. Brother Todd may have first dibbs on using it, but it may preach in KY also! |
