Vacation

Well, my 2-week vacation is now at the half-way point. Last week was all about relaxing and spending time with the Lord. I did squeeze in a day to clean our over-cluttered garage, though! On Friday, I went to a Creation Science museum in Akron - it was really small, but very cool. On Saturday, we took the kids to an open house at NASA. While getting off the bus and headed back to the car we got caught in a massive downpour!

It was so nice to actually attend church as a family. The service at our "vacation church" was great, but was a bit long (about 1 hour and 45 minutes). My daughter was too shy to go in the nursery so she stayed out with us and got a bit squirmy (and started to stink the place up, if you know what I mean!).

Today begins a week (alhtough I may sneak out to see Prince Caspian) of trying to get the house back into a state of order rather than looking like a typhoon blew through it. Hopefully the next couple of trash days will have big loads!

One of the best parts of the vacation is that I on't have to pull the laptop out every night to get work done after the kids go to bed. Out family time has gotten a much needed booster shot. Now, the key is to keep this going rather than revert back to rushed chaos when the vacation is over.

For those not on vacation - cature those precious moments with family now. Time goes by too fast. Chores need to get done, bills needs to be paid, laundry needs to get done, but we can't let those things keep pushing aside our time with the Lord and our time with family!

I was just logging in to send you a message about how your vacation was going (or I could call it 'va-cay' -the most annoying phrase ever!).

The Lord blessed me with something that I thought was a curse before I knew Him...and that was the constant reminder that the things of this world are fleeting, and to soak them in and not take them for granted.

Before I was a believer, this scared me because I was afraid that death meant it WAS all gone. But being born again I now know that eternity awaits, but that I should still value this time and spend time as a Christian family with my loved ones - because even though there's no messy garages in heaven (I hope!) things do need to get done but don't need to detract.

Vacation, one of those things that take forever to come, but are over in a blink of the eye, never seem to get all the things you need to do done, let alone those things you want to do. Glad you've had time to get a few things done with the family. And now as your vacation will be nearing an end, we're finally going to get good do things weather. Enjoy the rest of your time off.
