There are a lot of good illustrations that come from sports. I am always inspired by someone who overcomes adversity and does the extraordinary! It reminds us that we can do more than what we ever thought possible and more than what others ever thought possible as well!
John Lester was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma on Sept 1 2006. He has battled back, pitched and won the deciding game of the World Series in 2007. Now on May 19, 2008 he has pitched a no hitter! Good for him!

We can overcome in our spiritual lives too! Even if the Devil has knocked you down and hurt you badly. Get back up dust yourself off and go again! The Bible tells us blessed is the man that falls 7 times but gets back up again. As a Christian we are pressed about on every side, yet we are not destroyed! We are overcome-rs by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! The Bible says we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us! Praise be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! No matter what you face, God is bigger than your problems. If God is for you who can be against you? No weapon formed against you will prosper! You have the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! With man things may seem impossible, but with God all things are possible! You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you!
I don't know the spiritual state of John Lester, but I do know that if he as a man can overcome through hard work and perseverance, with God in you surely you can overcome whatever is facing you today! You and Jesus make a majority! So go out there in the game of life and give your very best effort by faith and watch what God will do in you and through you! |

I'm inspired through sports too.........and saddened by some things that happen. On my hubby's MS site, there are sooooo many people who are inspirations....they run marathons, mountain bike and stuff like that. When my hubby found out he had MS, I called a lady here in town....she has a different diseasem but some of the symptoms are the same. She is also a Christian. At one time, I took care of her, she sometimes couldn't get out of bed without assistance, wore leg braces and had a scooter to ride. She has such faith in God and never gave up. Now she's walking without braces.......actually walks about 3 miles a day. She was just a blessing in my life, taking care of her.... learning about her trust and faith in God through all of this. Anyway, she and my husband talked for about an hour, she talked to him about not giving into the disease. She is now his inspiration. And he tries to pay it forward....he's had several people come to him at work, with family members with MS and they don't understand what that person is going through.......he tells them, in one case, it changed a marriage, in another, it helped a mom help her daughter. Except when my hubby is having a flare up, you wouldn't know he has MS....and he always asks the people if they hadn't been told he has it, would they know? At work, MS is a bad word........we were even advised by his doctor not to tell...due to the stigma behind it. We prayed, and went against the doctor. I studied up on the laws and ADA and he told people at work........We've found that people tend to worry alot about him there, they notice any changes in his walking or talking, even the plant manager. People fear what they don't know or understand......so we give them understanding. Here's how I explain it to men, LOL. You have a car.......the motor has alot of wiring, right. Well, the wiring sometimes shorts out, and the car starts missing or something doesn't work right, because of the short. This is what happens with MS........there are short outs to the brain, and sometimes because of it....other parts of his body don't get the proper connection to function correctly. But, you can fix the short in the car by replacing the wiring. With MS, sometimes it fixes itself but leaves a lesion on the brain and can come back.......sometimes it doesn't. With the type of MS my husband has....it goes away, comes back, goes away etc... |

| My mother-in-law had MS (Cushions Disease) I am very familar with MS and how it works. She would always say, "I just want to feel better" and "My body just won't cooperate with me" any way, when we go through things like this, we just have to bear down and cope the best we can. We do what we can and leave the rest to God. I know it is not an easy road, but Jesus will walk with you all the way. |

I see my hubby getting depressed at times, but I don't allow it, LOLOL. God allowed us this disease for a reason :) It's not easy, but the Lord never said life would be easy :) I think the hardest part for me is that with most ailments, getting up and moving, keep going, works......with MS, it doesn't.....flare ups are a down time for him.....rest. |
