103:1 Bless Jehovah, O my soul; And all that is within me, `bless' his holy name. Just got home a few minutes ago. How did my sermon go? I think the Lord blessed and He seemed to pull it all together. I think I got the point across, salvation is not what we do but rather what Christ did for us on the cross. The truth of the matter is good people don't go to Heaven. Only those who have put their trust in Christ. I hope and pray that some did that this morning. I always feel drained after preaching but I love it. I have been doing it for 32 years and I hope the Lord will allow me to do it until the day He calls me home. I don't have the final total but I believe we went over 420 again this morning which is great for our church. That is two Sundays in a row that we had more than 400 that must be a record? There was great music today, the choir and praise team hit it out of the park. Emory Hinkle was in rare form as he sang about the empty tomb. Tamara Ross who attends our church gave birth to a precious son but in the same week had her 95 year old grandfather go home to be with the Lord. Life is like that isn't it? Bittersweet, but one day these goodbyes will be behind us. Please pray for Tamara and Jason I know this must be difficult. Elaine and I ate with her sister and family who came up from Lynchburg. We then headed down to the hospital to see Eva Seamen who is in critical condition. This was really hard on Elaine because Ron and Eva took Elaine under their wings and became like parents to her. It was hard for her to see Eva like this. Found out our mission team is up to 15 now they will be heading to Mexico in June. (Doug Shires is the latest team member) They are going to a school for deaf children to show them the love of Christ. They are trying to raise money for the trip. They will need about 15,000. Ethan is also doing a project for the main house at the school installing cabinets as a scout project. Jonathan Windle want to raise money for the trip by offering his beard. Yep you read correct his beard. Two jars on the welcome center table, one labeled cut it off and one keep it. What do you think? No church tonight so I am going to relax this afternoon. The trip to GA and Easter kind of wore me out. You can hear my sermon at our website www.faithbaptistcovington.net. I just wonder if I hit what I was aiming at? Also there is a neat video about our upcoming series on the home. Have a great Easter thanks for listening (reading?) My kcup is calling, need a fresh cup of Java. :) |
