Pat, I have never thought of it this way.  It's kind of like

Romans 7:15  I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

I loosely paraphrase by saying: Why do I do the things I do?  I don't want to do these things, I know it doesn't please God...but I do it anyway.  I know what He wants me to do and I don't do it!  AAAAAHHHHHHH  what's wrong with me....

I loved the words to your song. It really does capture how I feel. Thanks for sharing it and I can't wait to hear it also.

You do speak from your heart and I think every Christian comes to these conclusions...

"My flesh contradicts me and it never seems to yield...I'm ashamed of what I've seen myself do"  "But there is no excuse for the things I've done...If the scales of justice weighed here, I'd be the lacking one"

which is very relatable when written into the words of a song.   This is a wonderful song... I too would love to hear you sing the songs you've written.  God has certainly given you a gift and it is such a blessing to see you using it in a way that is pleasing to God.
