| You can wear purple P.J.'s while you are in it |
like this...
| DC, this is my Mississippi sleeping bag!!! This is serious stuff :-) |
| Ok ,ok, maybe I should take it more serious...let's see...do you have a matching pillow? |
No, sadly, the sleeping bag is not very purple. So, my purple pillows do not match. |
| Side bar question...you are going to Mississippi on a missions trip, right? Where does one sleep in Mississippi when on a missions trip? I know you will sleep in the sleeping bag, but inside of what type of shelter does one use such a sleeping bag? |

| Okay, since the bag is blue, we can wash it with a red shirt. Then it will come out of the washing machine PURPLE !!!!! |
BRILLIANT Cathy!!! I just happen to be wearing a red sweater!!! I'll pop them together in the wash tonight. DC, we'll be sleeping at the Gulport Armory (it's their Disaster Rebuild Operations Center). |
| Cathy, If I remember right, you can tie bunches of it together with plastic bags and you get a nice tie-dye effect...now, wouldn't MAry Ann look great in a purple tie-dye sleeping bag?!?! |
| You guys think it will be okay to put it in the wash? It's name brand is Columbia, it was manuafactured by Northpole Ltd and made in China. I'm concerned. |

Mary Ann, Think about it. It's a sleeping bag. You can sleep outside in the rain in one of those things. Is it Gulport or Gulfport? |

| You guys are beginning to scare me. IT"S A SLEEPING BAG! Oh you know a matching tent would be nice. HA |
Mary Ann, I have some camping gear, Coleman sleeping bag included, that is brand new (out of box) that I will never get to use since I got sick right after getting it. I've got a lantern, heater and some other stuff. I know that my wife has promised the $220 Eureka tent to a local Christian Boy Scout troop (sorry). But for the rest of the stuff, I would like to donate it to C3 if you all could use it. It is not good to me anymore and I need to get the basement cleaned out. My wife said let it all go minus the tent. If you, Pastor Dan, Cathy D or whoever needs some of this, let me know. Dave P.S. I also have a nice 2004 Jeep Rubicon (lifted on 31s with extra underbody armor) if anybody is looking for a 2 door soft-top TJ style. Sorry, I can't donate that though. I need $$$s for a wheelchair van. LOL |
Rita, you don't like purple? DANG!!! Actually, that's cool. More purple for me :-) What about chocalate? Jan, oohhh, great idea. A purple tent!!! We're sleeping indoors though... still, a PURPLE tent would be awesome!!! Dave, thank you for the VERY generous offer brother... I've asked Pastor Dan to jump in here and respond. Your sleeping bag wouldn't happen to be purple, would it? :-) |

You sure love purple. A can of spray paint makes your sleeping bag just right! I will have to get busy on the blogs now since you won't be on here as much for a week. Will you have some internet access? In all seriousness, y'all are doing God's work down there. GIT R DONE for Jesus! |

MaryAnn....Girlfriend you are the only person on MyChurch who could write a blog about a sleeping bag and get loads of stars and comments! If any of us did this, forget it! Anyway, more importantly then the sleeping bag itself, but where it is going. Lord, Please bless the trip to Mississippi. Please anoint your servants to do your will. May they accomplish far more than they even set out to do, by your mighty power and strength. I pray that you would use this team to bring salvation to the lost, homes for the homeless, and healing for the broken-hearted. May they do all of this in Jesus Name to the Glory of God. |

| Mary Ann I love purple too but blue is my favorite. purple and blue goes good with red hair and hey that's what matters that we look good while we do what we do right. I'd like to have some purple and some blue leather for riding my bike. They'd see me coming for sure. |
| Having seen the purple-toned sleeping bag with my own eyes, having touched it with my own hands, I have to say with Thomas, "My Lord and my God!" Yet blessed are they who have not seen, but believe. |
| Using Keith's idea above, I tried to spray paint Mary Ann's sleeping bag. It came out quite nice actually, but I can't seem to paste it here, so, Mary Ann, you will just have to imagine it a very nice shade of purple... |

| OOOOO! When can I come over and touch the sleeping bag? |
OK folks, let's do this the easy way.... Can somebody PLEASE just give Mary Ann some red colored sunglasses? Then her sleeping bag will look purple. LOL
For the rest of you reading this blog, I want you to start asking Mary Ann questions about purple. Everything you ever wanted to know can be found at the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple LOL < wink > LOL Dave |
| I hope you slept in that purple bag during Lent. You know that purple is the color of Lent? It would be like sleeping in a bag of sin. So while you're down there in Mississippi try and do some penance, okay? LOL!! |
Mary Ann, I can't believe this. You start a blog about your sleeping bag. You already got 204 reads and 8 stars. I hope we don't have problem's getting you out of that sleeping bag down in Gulfport to go do some work. Mark <>< |

MaryAnn; You are so funny girl! I am blessed to be able to read your blogs and am looking forward to more when you get back with all the juicy details of your missions trip to Mississipi (every time I say mississippi I spell it out m-i-ss-i-ss-i-pp-i! lol) That is such a wonderful missions trip! Good for you for being apart of it and doing the good works for Jesus! Bless you ten folds. I prayed the prayer with Sue's comments too! I LOVE PURPLE - I just can't wear it! Plus I love pink, but my husband doesn't like pink on me - I still wear it though for my own satisfaction!) I love all colors though! |

| My idea of roughing it is slow room service! |
Ok, here is a "roughing it" story...my wife and I were doing some mission work in southern Mexico just on the Guatamala border. We were with a team that was working the mountain villages. The area is jungle in the valleys, but arid at the top of the mountains. We stayed above the jungle line. Most nights we slept outside. You would zip your sleeping bag all the way shut and wrap it around your head. There were a lot of insects, animals, and sometimes rain, so you always made sure you were well covered. At one location where we stopped, there was an old, decrepid, run down shed. A couple of guys were tired of sleeping out "in the elements" and decided it was time to sleep in the shed. Did I forget to mention that scorpions were pretty common, too? Well, in the wee hours of the night, my wife and I, sleeping peacefully under the stars, hear one of the guys get up and walk out in the woods to do his personal business. He returns and slips into his sleeping bag. Within about 5 seconds we hear a piercing scream. Both guys are jumping and running and end up knocking the old shed over. We all ran over there to see what had happened. The one guy, upon returning to his sleeping bag, thought he felt a scorpion inside of it, got scared, ended up waking the other guy up who panicked, and both were yelling because the other one was yelling and they ended up crashing into the wall of the shed and knocking it over. There was no scorpion....and after all the noise, there were no animals within miles to bother us for the rest of the night. We all laughed about that night for a long time. Still makes me smile to think about it. |
I'm with Cathy on the slow room service, that's rough stuff! LOL Cute story DC, I would have been the screaming one (no actually I don't think I could have slept in an old shed - or outdoors, I guess I would have been hooped. lol. |
PatorDATM, those red sunglasses are the BOMB!!! What a simple solution!!! But, alas, the sleeping bag will still be more blue than purple once the glasses come off. David the Beloved, I'm doing my penance now dude :-) I'm suffering with my almost purple bag. aaallleen, no time now to pick up purple bag liners...great suggestion though. Rosie, you would look AWESOME in purple leather!!! Keith and Jan, I'll be with Mark Wigley...and he ALWAYS GITs R DONE for Jesus!!! Praise God... I'm just grateful to participate. :-) Thank you for the encouragement. Rita, you meanie :-) Hey, your daughter has great taste!!! Cathy, sistah, you can come over any time and lay hands on my sleeping bag. You have the key :-) But, to quote my dear brother Michael (LOL!!!), "Blessed are they who have not seen, but believe" Mike and Sue: you 2 are the reigning C3 blogging champions!!! Thanks for humoring me :-) And, thank you for your prayers. tracylea and DC, thank you for sharing your camping stories here... :-) DC, you're a brave man...married to a VERY brave woman...scorpions? YIKES!!! Kathy and Kelly, thank you...I'm praying we will all have many bloggable experiences that will bring glory to our Lord...Mark Wigley is the king of Mississippi blogs though!!! Thank you everyone for the laughter and for the advice...but, especially, thank you for your prayers!!! |
Wow, it's good it's bright color, could you imagine if it was camo, way too easy to lose in the woods. Then you have the problems with all those animals getting used to warm beds, and invading camping stores in search of their own sleeping bags, and well you know, camo is just way too complicated!!!!!! Dennis |
Dennis, I LOVE purple camo!!! Will it really cause animals to invade camping stores? How about if I just get a purple camouflauge head wrap?

Mary Ann.. you know purple is my favorite color, but more importantly it's the color Royalties used over the centuries....I put a purple drape on my cross out in front of my house for Easter! I have to tell you when I see PURPLE I think of God!!!! Now, there are many things you can do to make that sleeping bag purple, but as someone already said, ti's where it's going that matters! Dear Heavenly Father we ask that you surround Mary Ann and those going with her to this area Your Perfect grace..Lord give them strength to do whatever is needed. Give them wisdom to share YOUR Word so that others may know YOU too!!! We thank you Lord and give you Praise for all that you continue to do in our lives. In Jesus' name we pray!!! God bless, Bevie |

| Rosie, you are right!!! I will bring my purple umbrella. Darn…forgot, I lost it (or rather, someone "borrowed it")!!! Well, I have a yellow umbrella my mother gave me and an electric blue (almost purple) wind breaker with a hood. I think that should do the trick. You are definitely a thinker my sister!!! |
