| Famous Quotes of My Father |

This is a fun blog: Have you ever thought about why you say things the way you do? Who shaped your philosophy of life? Who influenced you and your thinking? A few weeks ago I had to give a speech, and I thought this would make for an interesting topic.
Famous Quotes of My of Father:
"The cream always comes to the top." Everytime, I got discouraged about being overlooked my Father would encourage me, that eventually I would rise to the top and be noticed. This phrase also worked when I didn't give my very best effort he would remind me of the fact, that only the cream rises to the top.
"The difference between good and great is the extra effort." In all my days of reading self help, motivational, and sales books I have never heard this quote anywhere else. The longer I live the more wisdom I see in this quoute. Giving that little extra makes all the difference!
"The only way to avoid stress and criticism is not to do anything." How true is that? It is the ones that stick their neck out above the crowd that catches the tomatos.
"They put erasers on pencils becasue we all make mistakes." I was glad when back in the 80's they came out with the papermate eraseable ink! But, yes I have made plenty of mistakes in my life, it is good to know I am not alone in this.
"Attitude Determines Altitude My father was always an optomist! He always saw what could be and believed and hoped for the best! He would every so often remind me that I needed an "attitude check" because my bad attitude was poisioning everything!
"I give you and inch and you take a yard!" Any time he loosed his iron fisted grip around me, I would not know how to act with restraint and would usually always embarassing him and harming myself. He loved that quote with a New England accent I can still hear "YAAARD."
He had a lot of other phrases, but I thought I might share a little wisdom from the generation before me. I was blessed to have a father who loved/s the LORD and did His best to raise me in the way that I should go. He was not a perfect man, but perfect enough for me. |

| My mom's favorite was "You can't have your cake and eat it too," which always bugged me! What's the point in having a cake if not to eat it? |

| my mom always use to say to me, " becareful in the way you make your bed, because you are the one that has to lie in it." meaning....becareful in the way you do things in your life, how you treat people and how you approach life....which really could go with," what goes around, comes around." |

| 'The difference between good and great is the extra effort'...so true! My daughter used to play violin and I always told her 'the difference between first chair and second chair is discipline.' I guess me and your dad think alike! |

| Thanks, y'all! My Father is not a perfect man, but he did teach me a few things for which I am very grateful. God blessed me with the father I have. I know many others can not say that, so I am eternally grateful. Glad I could pass some of these quotes on to you. |

By the way, feel free to share some of those parental quotes. So far we have:"You can't have your cake and eat it too," becareful in the way you make your bed, because you are the one that has to lie in it." (Jerrita my Mom would say the same thing..."You made your bed, now sleep in it!" 'the difference between first chair and second chair is discipline.'
Le'ts add some more, this could be a lot of fun, and plus we might learn something too! |
