Her Spiritual warfare.. She was walking around the local grocery store doing her weekly shopping. She had her list and well planned out budget to work within. As she pushed along her cart and checked each product (brand name vs. generic and price..) She remembered going shopping with him. " Babe let's get these." He said as he held up a name brand package of cookies. "Why? we already have our cookies and those are expensive." she said "But, mom used to buy this kind and I PROMISE you'll like them." "Then go to your mother's and eat them...we have to stay within this budget unless you want to put something back." Again he said... "Babe...I promise you'll like them and you can put our other cookies back." She rolled her eye's...Our cookies are just fine and there's more of them for half the price of those things...*sigh* ya know what...just put all the cookies back we'll just fast from the cookies." "Why are you so upset?" He asked sincerely...."they're just cookies and I thought I'd pick out a different kind just this time." She felt upset it hadn't been her best day and he always wanted to try something different she felt they always had this argument every time they went shopping. "Why would you compare me to your mother anyway??? You know I would get you any cookies you wanted if we could afford it...but, I'm trying to save us money for vacation this summer and you just want to waist that money on some cookies that won't last!" She realized people were staring and they were being viewed as "the young arguing couple." This made her even more frustrated. She yanked the cookies from his hand tossed them in the basket and put away the generic fudge cookies. "Never mind." she said as started briskly pushing the cart towards the next isle. All he did was laugh at her because he knew what she was thinking. She made her way to the next isle and started in with comparing the crackers. He slowly moseyed his way up to her and started to wrap his arms around her waist from behind. He started blowing in her ear and she couldn't help but smile and giggle at his juvenile ways. "Stop, people are staring at us and you're about to look totally inappropriate for public." He rested his chin on her shoulder in a very childish voice said "I don't care cause I'm with my lady!" She started blushing...."Oh, my lans....you're awful knock it off before I put back your cookies!" He started rubbing his nose on her shoulder continuing in his childish voice "no, no, not my cookies lil lady...anything but my cookies!" He always had to pull of this embarrassing stunt in public anytime they had a slight argument or disagreement. She couldn't exactly scold him... 1 It was never effective 2 She was already smiling 3 It did make her feel better all over. All she could do at this point of resort to shaking her head, grabbing their usual snack crackers and getting out of the store as fast as possible to discourage him from continuing on with his silliness. |
