Friends are one of life's greatest treasures. One of my favorite sayings is quote unquote, "Friends are the flowers in the garden of life." Let me tell you, I have the most magnificent and beautiful garden in the world filled with the most wonderful friends and I do love them so. We come into this world not chooseing our family, but you most certainly can choose your friends. I've just lost a beautiful friend on Wednesday, 5/07/08 due to a tragic car accident. I had just been in her company along with many other friends and co-workers that early afternoon. I will for the rest of my life remember our last smile we gave one another and the sweet laughter we shared.
Little did I know that in 45 minutes from that moment, my friend would not be here in my life again. Little did I know that my friend would become a memory way, way to soon. I had this little saying on one of my webpages for about a month that really means so much more than just words.
"Life is but a blink of the eyes, cherish it, it's the only life you have." Well, I feel the same way about my friends, they have one life to share with me, and I do so cherish that gift.
I had known Lisa for nearly 15 years. She was some lady. She had such a heart for those who had disadvantages and disabilities. She was a teacher and a mentor for many. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, a mother, a newly crowned grandmother and my friend. She was the daughter of our Lord and oh how she loved Him. She was a living example. She was an angel here on earth and those of us who knew her, knew that.
Treasure your friends, tell them you love them. Let them know how much it means having them in your life because you never know if that day is the last time you ever see them again...in this life anyway. Life here is so uncertain.
Lisa will be missed, but I have the blessed assurance that one day, oh yes, one day our paths will cross again and what a glorious reunion that will be. So until that day comes, she will forever live in my memories, and oh what memories she has left me to ponder.
