| The Bridge Update III |

The deacons have been given a copy of the proposal for a multi-site called The Bridge. It includes a vision statement, goals, a doctrinal statement, start-up budget, first nine months budget, and also defines the role of the Core Group, Lead Pastor and Teaching Pastor. Of course other things are gleaned from the 12 pages of the prospectus. The Deacons have decided to meet by themselves and discuss ONLY the proposal this Thursday night. Any revisions or clarifications will be edited and the proposal will be distributed to the congregation on June 8th.
Because the Deacons felt they needed more time--and perhaps the congregation, too--we have scheduled the church wide vote on the evening of the 22nd of June. That way, everyone will have two weeks to contemplate the idea. Opportunities will be given for Q&A and further discussion.
I'm excited about the possibilities of a multi-site to win the unchurched for Christ. Here's an interesting thought: we are not the only ones in town with this idea. I visited another church in town yesterday, it's about the same size as ours, and discovered that they were also thinking, discussing and praying about a multi-site of their own on the opposite side of town. I told the pastor that I thought it was a good idea for us to keep in touch, maybe we could help each other out once in a while.
So...be looking for the next update. Got questions or suggestions? Be sure to log in!

| I for one will be in prayer about this. Will be praying for favor from the people and the faith of the leaders to undertake such a momentus and worthy project! |

Howdy Ed, I found the blog pages. I'm praying that The Holy Spirit infuses in the church a passion for reaching the lost through this ministry. I am ready but I'm still trying to understand how I can help. The one question that rolls through my mind is what kind of time commitment is involved? I didn't realize until I wrote that why I was hesitating. 26:3 Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee. |

Brother Todd-- The meeting with the deacons went well. They all support the concept and are ready to vote their approval, but they wanted a few clarifications...which I provided for them in today's updated proposal. We have another regular monthly deacons meeting tonight of which I will not be able to attend. The pastor will be there with the updated proposal.
Zach and J...-- Hey! Thanks for your interest. A multi-site is a fairly new (10 years?) concept for churches to expand their reach by establishing another location in another town, across town, or across state lines. Venues vary, it can be a video podcast, or live, or direct feed from the "Mother" or "Partnering" church. The big advantage, at least for our church, is that we can reach people in our town that will not attend (for various reasons) a traditional worship service. We can be creative and innovative in the extended location without changing the structure and traditions of the home church. |
