| Flying Home |
|
| |
When you look at the clouds from below, they seem so far away. They can bring relief from the hot sun, take warmth away on a cold day, or bring rain or snow. When you are flying in a plane however, looking at the clouds is from a whole different perspective.
I am on a plane as I write this, so this will be posted after the fact. We are headed back home after our trip. The clouds I see through my window seat are white and fluffy in a post card blue sky. They look like cotton balls floating aimlessly. At times it feels as though I could reach out and touch them. They cast their shadows on the land below, shutting out the sun's light and heat. Sometimes life can be filled with sun and suddenly a cloud appears and shuts out the light, bringing with it coolness, and sometimes all you can see is the cloud, like right now as we fly through a huge one. The sunlight is still visible, but the earth and sky are not.
God is like a cloud over us. He can surround us, He can bring relief from the heat, but he can also bring storms. He is always there with us, even when the storms hit, or we can't see anything but the cloud itself. When we don't feel His presence, we can't presume that He is not there, like when the clouds cover the sun. We can still see the reflection, although the intensity of the sun is dimmed, the sun is still there. So it is with God. The bible says He will never leave us or forsake us. We have to trust and believe that He will do what He will always be there. |

I'm sitting in the Mexico City airport as I respond, getting ready to fly home after a LONG week. I'm not sure I agree that GOD brings the storms, but that the storms DO indeed come...but that it's our job as believers to remember that the CLOUDS do not take away from His presence or His 'light' though we may have to deal with some weather to experience it fully again. |

Mrs. W., Doyle, Mike, Bubbles, restore, thank you!!!
Growing, Whether it is God that brings the storms or not, He allows us to go through them to make us stronger. What you said is right, the storms do indeed come.
Steve, I think one of the most magnificent things that I love about nature is flowers. Just all the intricate details of how they are put together, and the colors...that can be applied to anything in nature, but I love flowers, and I love looking at the details of them.
DeeDee, in a cloud with our God :) I like that. |

Do you realize how Biblically accurate your analogy is? God and clouds go together alot.
Consider some of these verses: Ex 13:21, 19:9, 24:15-16, 40:34-35; 1 Kings 8:10-12; Nahum 1:3; Matthew 17:5; Acts 1:9; 1 Thess 4:17; Revelation 1:7
So when you see the cloud. Think of Him! |
