Great post, Cheryl!  Like so many other addictions, it starts out with just a look, and the lure gets stronger and stronger.  1 Cor. 10:13 says we can overcome every temptation!
10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

It's sad but true, we have a good friend who counsels men for this. It is an addiction like any other addiction :(
My son has even stopped reading some of his favorite magazines because of the ads........he says he doesn't need to be seeing stuff like that......I do so respect him for that, that he honors my daughter n love with it too!

I was thinking the same thing with some of the comments you have to filter through to get to a decent one. I was going to send a nice, "Have a great weekend" comment to my friends, but there were see through blouses, reared buttocks, too many sexually animated comments to filter through, so I just cancelled the nice thought.
Oh, now in the church. I just love the little annoying picture that continues to pop in my head every so often of the mom with the baby kicked up on her hip, and the dress that is slit way down to the bottom of her breast. What are these women thinking? It angers me! My husband is very pure, but the world is always trying to be a magnet and pull in the eyes. Why should my husband or even myself have to deal with it in the church? OK, I am in an uproar now! LOL! I stand for righteousness, and this is just WRONG! Sorry, but I feel very strongly about this. I am NOT religious. Don't think that is what is stirring me. When I was a heathen, I dressed like a hoochy mama. I know all about it. Gotta star this blog girl!

Good blog.  It's so sad you can't even find a decent movie most of the time  because of language and nudity.  Not sure what has happened to our ethics and morals.  That was a ridiculous statement!  I do know what has happened-very simply SATAN

Oh my goodness!!! Cheryl...this is soooo true...and sad to say, even in the body of Christ. The devil knows what weapons to use to entice even a child of God! Wow!!! This was good!

I read a study on pornagraphy addiction and it said that the centers of hte brain that are active during Heroin addiction are active during pornagraphy. Scary isn't it?

If ppl only knew how these women are exploited and abused.  Ppl can say, "Well, it's their choice", but I tell you, when you have the pasts of most of these women, your choices seem limited.  May I leave another awesome website.  It's a ministry by an ex-porn star.  she's a sweetheart, and just really has a heart for ppl in the industry and addicted to porn.

Oh, and porn opens the door to violence.  trust me; I know. I did some pretty "psychotic" things before I got saved, and was hardcore into porn.  Ted Bundy, the serial rapist/killer said there wasn't one man on death row, that didn't have a porn addiction.  Not one.

Charles Manson and Ted Bundy said that Lara, and they were both into Satanic worship...one open, one not in their display of it.

I have the xxxchurch t-shirt.  You should see the reactions I get.  They have a great site.  They have a program you can download and it sends all sites you visit each day to an accountability partner.

Shelley Lubben has a great myspace page as does xxxchurch.

Good post I believe a larger more widespread problem that effects worship on sunday morning is the dress in church

Also the commercials and T.V. shows are getting hard to tell from R rated movies..I really believe we are going to have to be in the world but far more distinctly not of the world...I lived in las vegas 1 year (2001) the churches are very much different and seem weak to me .I fell hard a couple times while out there looking for a church. We will get the help from Jesus Christ to be seperate when we really want it.

Wow! Great post and great comments!  I too was into porn before Christ.  I spent the first five ++ years of my marriage praying whenever my husband and I were intimate because of the images I had to combat in my mind.  I thank God that He taught me how to take every thought captive to obedience in Christ and to think on things that are pure!   I was such a hoochy mama! LOL!!

This good to be brought out...
we can't be complacent, we have to stand up
for the things that are right in God's eyes not the worlds...
We don't defined what this nation was made of; which we were founded as a Godly nation,
we lose ground because we get complacent, or other reasons to many to count...
We need to bring our country back to a Godly nation... and not put up with
the porn on our TVs and Internet, billboards, they put that's stuff there and defend
that it is their constitutional right; but can't have the ten commandment in public
or bibles in our schools... it is crazy and if they get the hate law in we all in trouble.
God help us all, He is the only one that can...

If we study revival that happened in the USA for instance the time of the murder of Capt Morgan we shall discover that the churches then did some spring cleaning a little earlier that year.
This was concerning the masons in the church; pornograpy is another form of many. Jesus said in Rev I have this against you for each one of the 7 churches ; and to him that overcomes 'I will give" He also says either you are with me or against me hot or cold but because you are luke warm I shall spew you out of my mouth. So I say either the Pastors are with him or against him....?
Shall the hireling speak on the unpleasantries or shall the Pastors. The bible says they face a harder judgement for the teachings. Isaiah says and there was cow dung on there faces. Now
whatthat  is all about; those who tickle the ears. The true prophets including Jesus and John the baptist called it like it was John called the pharicees a 'Brood of vipers" Jesus said what he said in Matt 23;" woes to the Pharicees ". The bible says do not call evil good and good evil.
It is wriiten Jesus calmed the storm in the new testatment and God detroyed the earth in a flood
and in the book of samuel Samuel said look what evil you have done before God because you desired a king and it began to hail and destroy there crop. Yet we call our God global warming today.
Jesus is the same today yesterday and forever more.
Now why then is he not calming the storms today.Repentance?????
In the days of Noah the word says and the Lord gave them up to their depravity of mind.
Matt 24 says as in the days of Noah again.
Truly John the Baptist spoke against King Herod and said 'Is it lawful to take your brothers wife "
and lost his head for it.
How many are speaking out today to advance the Kingdom of God.  Those are truly the ones that shall not grow weary as in Is. 40
We do have a voice and as we step out in faith God honors those who do so. No devil you are not going to have our children you are not going to be part of our church.
And no Pastor you are not going to call evil good or visa versa. Because you will be held accountable sooner then you think.

I appreciate this.  I know that it is a problem with me looking at women at church.  I know that Pastor Ron has mentioned this before to the women about what they wear.  I know that I have also heard this on the radio that women should watch how they dress and just look good for their husbands and not others.

I'm going to say something here that hasn't been said in response to how women dress at church:  Leave the women alone that dress like they do.  Before you get mad, read on.  We are all at different walks.  Many of us joined the church as hoochie mamma's (and now are recovering hoochie mammas) and then THE LORD cleaned us up.  It is HIS job to clean up our thoughts, and our bodies.  He alone will convict us of what we are doing.  The thing is, it's our job to look at these ladies and say a prayer that they get close enough to the Lord that He will have a chance to change them.  And even if that never ever happens, we are all ultimately responsible for what we look at, and what thoughts and images come into our minds as we see something.  If you are deep into a relationship with God, and you are aware of your shortcomings, the Lord will help you to take thoughts and desires captive.

It is our job to love everyone right where they are at.  One of Jesus' closest friends was a woman named Mary.  I think we all know what kind of woman she was.  Once Jesus got ahold of her, she changed her whole life because He loved her right where she was at.  Fresh from an affair, caught in the act, thrown at his feet (although the Bible doesn't say it, I'm sure she didn't have much clothing on when she was thrown at His feet), and all He did was hold out His hand, pick her up and love her in all her "hoochie mamma glory".  The God of the Universe, holding on to a half naked woman....loving her no matter what anyone else was saying to her, or about her....or how they were looking at her.  What an amazing and humbling testimony.  No wonder she changed.  That's what true love does.

Look, I have an ex-husband that was/is a porn addict.  It ruined our marriage because he thought that I needed to share him like all of the movies said was ok.  I have male friends who are my best friends in the whole world, and they openly admit and pray about their addiction to porn.  We live in Las Vegas...I'm sure that it is very hard to take thoughts captive here with all that you can have and do here that is an accepted way of life.  I'm not making light of porn addiction.  Please understand that I am addressing some comments about how people wish women would be more mindful of how they dress....If people still live part way in the world, it is still having influence over who they are and what they do. The Word says that we will be held accountable for what we know, not what we don't know.   Instead of wishing they would do something different, how about praying and let God do what He does best?  How about loving them like Jesus did and still does?

LVTish, hello, so glad you posted on here...we have a very similar testimony if you have taken the time to read mine first.  I do agree with what you are saying in regard to women and post myself about the levels and walk in life they are at; however this blog is about dress in general and how it does effect men.  I too stand beside you in your opinion of 'leaving the women alone", but one must be taught also and this must be addressed...I do professional public speaking about this matter, and understand your heart as best I can from our similar walks.  Please feel free to message me privately if needed, I have quite an extensive personal pilgrimage in this area.  Please feel free to add to this post.  Thank you.

Good info...I am not too shocked about the Pastor stats, after all they are mortal humans.  I actually think those numbers are a bit higher...the problem is, that when you are a Pastor, you feel like you can't share certain struggles you are dealing with and in the past the Church (In general) has not dealt with this subject very well.

Thank you for sharing your story.

I came to this blog after reading Lara's recently posted one. Some very good information.

The excitement of it (titilation) is such a strong appeal I'd imagine. I think another person hit on that idea by mentioning the similarity to what certain drugs induce.
