3:13 Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Bless the Lord, all my soul and all that within me! Friends of God, I am so excited about what the Lord is doing in the heavens. Once we forget--dismiss our past: the hurt, the pain, the unforgiveness, the disappointments; not only can God use us, but he will do tremendous things in our lives. Jesus will begin to release blessings into our lives once the past is behind us--jobs, financial breakthroughs, and healings. Our land will begin to flow with milk and honey.
Pressing is not always easy. Often in our lives, we lose the ability to press, because we are weighted down by worries and the cares of this world. It is only when we release those burdens to Jesus that we are enabled to press toward our calling.
Take a moment and visualize with me what pressing looks like. Imagine a man pushing a large boulder up a steep hill. The veins are standing out on his forehead, his bicep muscles are straining against his shirt, sweat is dripping down his brow, and his feet are almost slipping because the boulder is soheavy. Enter grace. Enter mercy. Enter Jesus. Suddenly, the man is walking up the hill, like superman, he is pushing the boulder with one finger. Jesus makes the weak strong. Hallelujah! Ahh..and the gift of God, the beauty of the rainbow, the sweetness of the sunshine after the rain is this: at the top of the hill is destiny, purpose, hope, your future; the high calling of Christ, Jesus.
Friends of God, Let us embrace the high calling of Christ Jesus that awaits us! |
