| Number Our Days |

90:12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Are we really ready for this kind of reality check? If we want a heart of wisdom, we need to be willing to hear it! So, here is a look at our "days" on this earth...
If you live to be 75 years old, you have a total of...
app. 27,375 days of life in this world
app. 657,000 hours of life to spend
If you sleep 7 hours a night, that leaves you with 465,375 hours.
If you work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (for 30 years), make that 402,975 hours.
Let's factor maybe 2 hours a day for meals and getting ready in the morning. Now we are left with 348,225 hours.
Factor in maybe 1 hour a day for paying bills and doing chores. Now we are left with 320,850 hours.
Oh yeah, there is the whole commuting to work thing. Let's say an hour a day. 313,050 hours left. If you go to church once a week, take that down to about 301,350 hours.
If you watch 2 hours of TV a day, that leaves you with 246,600 hours. (There are so many other activities we are not listing here!)
If you are currently 37 or 38 years old, you have about hit the half-way mark, so cut the number in half. So, Lord willing, you have about 123,000 "free time" hours left. How will you spend those precious hours? More TV? More movies? Or will we use them for the glory of God?
The hour glass of our lives is emptying by the second. That perspective should give us more wisdom on making the most of the time we have! |
