True, true. Of course, I'd like to throw in my two cent's worth: Culturally, even among the Jews, there was jewelry wearing of women, like earrings. I know, with Rebekah, one version says she was brought a gold earring, another says a gold nosering. I know that slaves had them put in their noses, or a thing through the ear if they chose to stay with that master, and also through the lip. I have my ears pierced, and I love wearing earrings. I didn't get them pierced to harm myself. I have tattoos as well (before I was saved), but I just leave that up to the individual. I tell them "Seek God." There's a lot of Levitical laws we don't give heed to nowadays. You wear poly-cotton, you've just broken one. You cut the sides of your beard, you just broke another. You sew two different kinds of seed in the field, another, and so on. Cutters know it's wrong to cut themselves. I knew it wasn't right, when I used to do it. It was my way of coping and "venting." Instead of drinking, smoking dope or whatever, that was my quick fix. I know it's hard for some ppl to understand, but you kinda gotta be there. Our bodies are God's temple. We need to know that whatever we are doing to them and with them is acceptable to God. that includes what we eat (and this is where I am at fault). |
