My last blog "Unity -- An Evasive Virtue" was a bit negative (I guess I wasn't in the best of moods when it was written) so I wanted to redeem myself with this one:
I have been especially impressed lately by folks from our church. What am I impressed about? Attitude. Let me try to explain what I mean without betraying anonymity. If there's a need in the church, people with attitude get it done. Need an incentive to give to the new church sign project? Someone's there. Need church office equipment? Someone's there. Need a light fixed or the lawn mowed or a door fixed? Someone's there. Attitude plays a very big part in why people do what they do. Attitude doesn't actually get money out of the pocket or time out of the day, but attitude plays a big role in motivation. Ability is yet another thing. Those with the proper attitude and ability...give. Those who have the proper attitude but can't give money or time, give in other ways. Need a prayer partner? Someone's there. Need someone to talk to? Someone's there. Need a word of encouragement or an "atta boy"? Someone's there. Somethimes it's the little things that count. Even tough I'm impressed, I'm also jealous. Most days I work at least 10 hours or more and don't have much time except for resting up for the next day. I'm sure some of you are in the same boat. We have the attitude, but not always the ability. And yet some folks just "get 'er done."
A correct attitude is born of the Holy Spirit. If you find yourself lacking in attitude, here's a motivator. And why not? It's the little things that count! --- (the Scripture insert is not working on my computer, so here it is anyway)
"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." I Corinthians 15:33
