The reading for day 43 was Psalms 90-108. 94:4 [How long] shall they utter [and] speak hard things? [and] all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? 94:5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage. 94:6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. 94:7 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard [it]. 94:12 Blessed [is] the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; 94:13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. 94:14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. 94:15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it. 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? [or] who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? The kinds of things mentioned in the first passage are still going on today and we, the church, just stand by and watch or, at the worst, actually take part in it. How many times do our churches turn needy people away because they don't meet the "requirements" on our applications for assistance? How many church bodies do you know of that are actually taking care of widows and orphans who are fellow believers? If anyone has any positive stories please feel free to share because i think i need to hear them. The second passage tells us that God is not going to let it go on forever and offers us a good question..."Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against the evildoers?" (NIV) What will our answer be to these questions? 97:10 O ye that love Jehovah, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of his saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. God grant me the grace to hate evil. Psalm 99 proclaims that God is holy...holy...holy. Its kind of cool to see the three time holy is used. Read it...it will make sense if you do ;) 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; [it] shall not cleave to me. 101:4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked [person]. May these words be true of me! 103:6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. 106:3 Blessed [are] they that keep judgment, [and] he that doeth righteousness at all times. Amen. |
