Hello Everyone,

I would like to start by introducing myself. My name is Jerri Lynn and I am a survivor.

I grew up in a severely abusive home with a alcoholic father. Our house consisted of things going on that only the most depraved minds could even imagine.

It was not a home but a war zone, where daily you struggled to survive. I have lived to tell my story, not in hopes of pity, or applause but in hopes of helping others to realize that with God's help you can overcome an abusive childhood and the heartache that you carry through the years from living through it.

One of the hardest times of the year for me has always been Father's Day. I have never found any joy, even as a small child in honoring a man that didn't deserve the title of Father.

When other children in school we're finding so much excitement in making their little paper tie cards for Father's Day I was secretly wondering why God didn't punish mine by sicking the hounds of hell upon him for the evil that he was doing.

It took me many years to figure out that answer. But I am now able to thank God for my life instead of cursing him for it.

I realize that he put me here for a reason, that when my Father placed a rifle to mine and my Mother's head and pulled the trigger and the gun jammed that it was God and God alone who intercepted the bullet.

That even though my earthly Father had free will to mistreat those that God had in-trusted in his care, that my Heavenly Father was the one truly in charge.

That what I was going through had a greater purpose. That the abuse that I was suffering was not because I was unlucky or bad or undeserving of the perfect Father or family.

But what I was living through was because God knew that he had blessed me with the gift of survival.

That no matter what my earthly Father would send my way that through God's love and protection I would stand strong and use what I'd been through to try and help others to realize that they also have been blessed with the life they have been given.

I want you all to understand that my blessings are not in riches or success in the corporate world. I actually have a sixth grade education and very little money.

But that the life that God gave me blessed me with tolerance of others differences, with the want to adopt other children who are survivors, with a faith-filled, loving, loyal dedicated husband and Father and most importantly with the ability to understand and accept God's love.

Therefore it is my Heavenly Father and my husband that I choose to honor this Father's Day.

To show my love too and to thank for the life they have given me.

Thank you both for making me strong for showing me unconditional love and acceptance and for being there when I am in need.
