He Must Die, You Know?
Day after day I can hear the cry from a struggle of an old man pleading for his survival. ”I want to live,” he whispered very softly with a faint voice. I could barely understand him. You see, he is dying and with each coming day, he’s dying more and more.
I remember clearly the kind of life this old fellow once had. He was very strong and influential in many ways. He seemed to be wise and highly intelligent, an accomplished old fellow for he had completed almost everything that he desired.
As I recall from my memories of him, he has advised me and persuaded me in many things, some good and some bad. I use to listen to this ol’ fellow daily. He would tell me many interesting things to do to make me feel happy and to be content. He used to always whisper in my ear things that he wanted me to do. Sometimes, I did not what to do those things that he suggested, but somehow, he could convince me and persuade me to do them anyway. I trusted this old man many times. I thought of him as a dear friend that I could count on and I was very happy; well, at least I thought I was happy. This old man was skillful and smooth in getting his way. I remember how he loved to entertain and be entertained. He was also very sentimental and sexual. He spent much of his old life making suggestions for the most pleasurable experiences that one could have in life. He was indeed a powerful old guy, who ruled like a king.
But now, his time has come; his reign is over because someone much stronger has come. Someone much more powerful has come between this old man and me. And now the old man must die. Yes, he must die in order that I may live. You see, I have been liberated form this old man’s stronghold that I was unaware that he had had such control over me. But now, I am freed by one so much more worthier, wiser and kind, one who truly loves me and has empowered me to stand.
Yes, the old man must die in order that I may live freely unto God who loves me and has given his life for me that in Him I now can do all things to the glory of God.
You see, I rarely listen to the faint voice of this old man anymore, although, at times, generally unexpected times, I can still hear him pleading and crying out saying, “I want to live. Please, let me live again.”
-- New King JamesRomans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

It's true that in Christ we have died already. Yet, the old man of our sin natures trys to live on. But he must die and remain dead that we may live unto God freely in all holiness and godliness.

| Hmmmmm, very well put. I hate the "old" woman when she rears her ugly head sometimes. I hate her. Like the Word says, there is NOTHING good in me.....except Christ Jesus. |

Yes, Lara. You're so right.
I can hear the cry of the Apostle Paul saying...
Romans 7 24. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
