Blessed Are Those Who Hunger & Thirst To Live Right

5:6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.                               Matthew 5:6

"How happy are those who are hungry and thirsty for right living!" Living right is not popular. Being popular is popular -- fitting in -- being cool.

People are hungry to be accepted; hungry to break the rules; hungry to make money; hungry to get high on chemicals; hungry to have fun; hungry for power; hungry for cheapo sex; hungry to impress others; hungry for hyped up media (sickovision); hungry for more stuff; hungry to talk on cell phones; hungry to look younger than they are. But is anyone hungry to live right?

I want to live right! I want my life to be as finely tuned as possible to the principles of morality, truth, and justice. I don't want to limp through life on one cylinder of my V-8 engine -- just getting by and stuffing my pain. I want to be all I can be -- as good as I can be.

Life is a challenge to live right and I want to rise to meet it. Living right is hard, very hard. But I am convinced that there is no more exciting and fulfilling way to live than by hungering and striving to live right. Why not try it and see for yourself?

Happy or blessed is the man who walks not in the cousel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of the scornful but his delight is in the Law of the LORD and in His law he meditates day and night.  You know the rest, but the way of righteous is a way of blessing, but the way of the ungodly shall be like the chaff that the wind drives away.

This was powerful my dear brother Steve.....and truly this is *my* hearts desire, to live right before the Most High God....It comes with much sacrifice...it comes with being misunderstood, sometimes it comes with going against the grain of what is considered *normal*, but I wouldn't trade my walk with the Lord for anything that this world could ever offer me.  I'd rather be like a *tree* planted by the rivers of waters....I shall not be moved.  I hunger and thirst to live right.

You're right, most people are hungry for something, secular or sacred.  I have known a few people, however, that are indifferent to life in any context.  They are the "so what" people in life.  They'd rather waste their time on non-profitable activities like TV, video games, texting their friends while driving, etc.  I wonder if they would hunger and thirst to live right if they were changed inside by the Spirit of God?
