| The *WILD* Side of God |

I am currently reading "Wild At Heart" by John Eldridge. It is an amazing book of "Discovering the secret of a man's soul". John's wife, Stasi Eldridge has written a companion book for women called, "Captivating" which I recently read. My friend and I are reading both books to help us understand ourselves, each other, and God a little bit better.
While this book's focus is mostly on how God made men, we are reminded that God made men "in His image". He made little boys to be rough and tumble warriors and super heros. He made little boys to crave adventure and danger. He made boys to have a desire to experience "the wild". He created boys that way because that is how He is.
We often have this picture of God in our minds, of him being this serene, peaceful, loving, father-figure who takes care of his children. We don't often take the time to see his "wild side". We don't think about how he created the world to be exciting and wild. The oceans are rough and dangerous. The forests and jungles are full of "wild" animals. He created the world this way because He enjoys excitement and adventure.
I just spent two days down at Navarre with my children. We had a "wild" time. We saw both God's wild and beautiful sides at the same time. The surf was rough and the waves were crashing. Jelly fish were everywhere, and I even found a large shark's tooth -- all reminders of God's wild side. However, we saw the most incredibly gorgeous sunset and sunrise I have *ever* seen -- all of which were reminders of his beauty.
I am always striving to know the heart and character of God more and more each day, and seeing his "wild side" has helped me to be even more amazed by him and fall even deeper in love with Him. |
