So here it goes.........

Bill (my husband) received a phone call last night from his best friend (Eric) who we have known since childhood.  The both of them have similar backgrounds, lots of good times mixed in with a whole lot of dysfunction.  Eric has a heart of gold, he's loyal, and very successful financially, but many demons haunt him on a daily basis.  To sum in up, he is a functioning alcoholic.  He married someone (Michelle) who from the beginning was trouble, and they have a 12 year old son (Kyle).  Eric broke down last night and told Bill that his son hates his mother, Child Protective Services has been called in to intervene, and he basically feels like the walls are caving in on him.  To hear all of this is very heartbreaking for Bill and I.  Not that we didn't see it coming, but that all of the selfish decisions of both Eric and Michelle have surfaced.  Bill at this point in the conversation (to my overjoyed heart) explained to Eric that even though he is still dealing with his own issues, that he has found no other way to happiness then through his relationship with Christ.  He told him that if it were not for God, he is not sure how his own life would have turned out.  Praise God, for maybe Bill has planted a tiny seed of hope for Eric.  I ask all of you to please pray for Eric and his family.  I know how much Eric has suffered through his life, and I pray that he will look up, and see his heavenly father is there with open arms.  Thank you all for taking the time to read this blog entry.  Love, Brandi
