19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart: thou shalt surely rebuke thy neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 19:18 Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people; but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am Jehovah. 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. 5:44 but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you. 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye? 6:27 But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, 12:17 Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. 12:18 If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. 12:19 Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath `of God': for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. 12:20 But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 4:11 Speak not one against another, brethren. He that speaketh against a brother, or judgeth his brother, speaketh against the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judgest the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, cannot love God whom he hath not seen. I put all of these verses up for a reason. It goes against almost everything that CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, etc. preaches. Why do we bring politics into church and our hearts? I wasn't raised to hate any political group but more and more I'm finding "Christians" trying to shove their hate for one political party or another down my throat! I'm sorry, I should watch my anger. I am NOT a Republican. I am also NOT a Democrat. I AM A PROUD AMERICAN! I love this country and its root with passion. I love God and His Son with all of my heart. Why are we bad mouthing canidates, past presidents, future presidents, or anyone? Remember, no news station is "fair and balanced". None. We should pray for our leaders, past present, and future. We should pray for God's will in country and our future leaders. On the screen just below this reads, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11" On a personal note: I do not want to be part of any church that encourages hate. Example: Putting down current or former presidents or/and their spouses. I understand that we are all entitled to our opinion and I have mine as well. It's from where our opinions are launched should we consider. Here's a verse just for fun: 32:8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

From what I understand, churches would lose their non-profit status if they preach politics, and I don't think that is enforced too much by what we see in the news these days. Of course, that is from the pulpit. Church goers have the freedom of speech to speak their minds to one another.
As a Christian, we must be informed citizens, being aware of the wolves in sheeps clothing, and those disguised as angels of light. We are priviledged to vote, and should exercise that right (IMHO). We have to stand up for what is right and in truth. We have to be bold, not only to speak the gospel, but to try our best to keep evil from destroying us. We are fortunate to be able to share the love of Christ, worshipping freely without being arrested or killed. I'm so glad we live in a free country where we are allowed to share our views with one another! My prayer is this freedom will not be taken away from us.
God Bless You, Stefan! Don't apologize for stating your beliefs, we all have the opportunity to do so in a forum like this, or in person. Sometimes people will listen and respect your point of view, and sometimes people are easily offended and take it personally. That's the chance we all take when we share our ideas, thoughts and feelings. Humans are odd creatures!
P.S. Here's a GREAT message on your verse listed above in Matt. 7! http://www.geocities.com/spirit_food/judge.html |

| The Bible says what it says and who are we to judge the "wolves". We DO have a right to speak our mind but publicly bashing someones character is wrong. Especially from Christians! I'll just let the verses above speak from themselves, they're undisputable.(They're from God!) |

Awesome thoughts, Stefan!!! We Christians do indeed need to be VERY careful about our political stance. Like you said, we do not want to be seen as having hateful hearts towards candidates, politicians, or political parties (made up of PEOPLE). We ALSO do not want to split the church up b/c half are Republican and the other half Democrat. We are brothers and sisters in Christ FIRST!
A star for you! |

I find it offensive as well to have other people trying to cram their political opinions and ideas down my throat. I went to church with a friend during the last election between Bush and Kerry and the preacher spent a good part of his sermon telling the congregation who they should vote and telling them that it was Gods will. This was without a doubt the most offensive church service I have ever attended. I remember the following Sunday after that, Brig. Wyatt brought the election and encouraged us to all vot and topray about and ask God to lead us in the right direction and let him help us decide who is the right person for us to vote for. I really respected that and remember at the time telling others who were offended by the message at the other church that this is what I love about our church. We do not feel pressured to do what the preacher or other people feel is right, we are allowed to have our own opinions. I don't think we have had a problem at the pulpit but it is very offensive to hear people (especially of the church) speak in such a harsh and critical way about any of the candidates. I think it is okay to have an opionion and voice it but I think there is a point where people can go too far with their opinions and be over critical and plain nasty. This is not of the Lord. |
