From what I understand, churches would lose their non-profit status if they preach politics, and I don't think that is enforced too much by what we see in the news these days. Of course, that is from the pulpit. Church goers have the freedom of speech to speak their minds to one another.

As a Christian, we must be informed citizens, being aware of the wolves in sheeps clothing, and those disguised as angels of light. We are priviledged to vote, and should exercise that right (IMHO). We have to stand up for what is right and in truth. We have to be bold, not only to speak the gospel, but to try our best to keep evil from destroying us. We are fortunate to be able to share the love of Christ, worshipping freely without being arrested or killed. I'm so glad we live in a free country where we are allowed to share our views with one another!  My prayer is this freedom will not be taken away from us.

God Bless You, Stefan! Don't apologize for stating your beliefs, we all have the opportunity to do so in a forum like this, or in person. Sometimes people will listen and respect your point of view, and sometimes people are easily offended and take it personally. That's the chance we all take when we share our ideas, thoughts and feelings. Humans are odd creatures!

P.S. Here's a GREAT message on your verse listed above in Matt. 7!

The Bible says what it says and who are we to judge the "wolves".  We DO have a right to speak our mind but publicly bashing someones character is wrong.  Especially from Christians!  I'll just let the verses above speak from themselves, they're undisputable.(They're from God!)

Awesome thoughts, Stefan!!! We Christians do indeed need to be VERY careful about our political stance. Like you said, we do not want to be seen as having hateful hearts towards candidates, politicians, or political parties (made up of PEOPLE). We ALSO do not want to split the church up b/c half are Republican and the other half Democrat. We are brothers and sisters in Christ FIRST!

A star for you!

I find it offensive as well to have other people trying to cram their political opinions and ideas down my throat. I went to church with a friend during the last election between Bush and Kerry and the preacher spent a good part of his sermon telling the congregation who they should vote and telling them that it was Gods will. This was without a doubt the most offensive church service I have ever attended. I remember the following Sunday after that, Brig. Wyatt brought the election and encouraged us to all vot and topray about and ask God to lead us in the right direction and let him help us decide who is the right person for us to vote for. I really respected that and remember at the time telling others who were offended by the message at the other church that this is what I love about our church. We do not feel pressured to do what the preacher or other people feel is right, we are allowed to have our own opinions. I don't think we have had a problem at the pulpit but it is very offensive to hear people (especially of the church) speak in such a harsh and critical way about any of the candidates. I think it is okay to have an opionion and voice it but I think there is a point where people can go too far with their opinions and be over critical and plain nasty. This is not of the Lord.
